I was looking through Unearthed Arcana and found the section on Incantations.
(For those that haven't seen it) Basically they produce effects similar to spells but require massive amounts of time and components in comparison, and can be "cast" by anyone with the required SKILL (not necessarily the spellcasters of the group, but more than likely they will have the best chance at it).
I like the feel of the concept. Spells becomes rituals that take a long time to prepare, require room to set-up the candles and sigils... require multiple characters to join hands... yadda, yadda, yadda...
Has anybody used them?
Are there more out there someplace?
Is there another book that has a similar mechanic?
I'd like my group to find some ancient mystic writings that aren't scrolls, aren't more spellbooks, and yet still have a magical feel to them...
