UA's : Incantations

Kaledor

First Post
I was looking through Unearthed Arcana and found the section on Incantations.
(For those that haven't seen it) Basically they produce effects similar to spells but require massive amounts of time and components in comparison, and can be "cast" by anyone with the required SKILL (not necessarily the spellcasters of the group, but more than likely they will have the best chance at it).

I like the feel of the concept. Spells becomes rituals that take a long time to prepare, require room to set-up the candles and sigils... require multiple characters to join hands... yadda, yadda, yadda...

Has anybody used them?

Are there more out there someplace?

Is there another book that has a similar mechanic?

I'd like my group to find some ancient mystic writings that aren't scrolls, aren't more spellbooks, and yet still have a magical feel to them...

I had Fires of Dis & Call forth the the Dweller go through the Office of one of my players. His mage had the job of "Keeper of Spells" for the Karamekian school of magic. The Character was supposed to file them both in the records. Fires of Dis was instead filed in the dustbin. The party did not learn to use "Call forth the the Dweller" for they are too cautious to have any dealings with Yog-Sothoth. :]
