[UK] EN World GenCon UK Gathering

Are we ok to create dual/apprentice level characters for Isle of Woe?

I am thinking of making a really solid Apprentice level Barbarian/Sorcerer. A nasty bit of work. Otherwise its a straight wizard.

Despite only a week to go, us Isle of Woe DMs have yet to see any sign of rules or the scenarios...

But, I reckon, because Living Greyhawk characters generally need to be approved (and this is LG, right?) first, I don't think apprentice level characters are allowed. Don't quote me on that by any means ...

Scenario for EN World UK gathering

OK, I've finalised what I'm going to run for the EN World gathering - Saturday 3pm (hopefully) at GenCon UK, to be marked on the DOGs board.

M11 2737 YE: The Lair of Gysshk.

"Following his failure at the Siege of Castle Brax, General Gysshk departed from the human renegades Cedric Quezada and Chin Li, leading his remaining forces eastwards into the forested hills bordering on Dulleaberg. Occupying an ancient dungeon complex, Gysshk's army soon embarked on a reign of terror against the disheartened peoples of the Borderlands, and as the first snows of winter fell, new horrors flocked to his black banner..." - Gysshk's Saga.

Contrary to earlier statements it will take place in my regular 'Borderlands' campaign setting, PCs being heroes recruited by the Margrave of Dullearg for an attack on the lair of the legendary hobgoblin warlord General Gysshk - see:
http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Dungeon/5955/Borderlands.htm

Characters will be 4th level, standard gear. If you wish to bring pregenerated PCs they should be created with 28 point buy using the 3e PHB ONLY, and you are advised to refer to the campaign website above. Each can have 5,400 gp of gear, but no single item worth more than 2700 gp.

EDIT: hit points for pregen PCs should be max at 1st level, then 'average+1' at each subsequent level, eg d8 > 5/level, d10 > 6/level, same as Living Greyhawk rules.

I plan to accept up to 9 players maximum, and will bring some pregenerated PCs.

Oh yes - I'll be using minis & floorplans, so if you bring your own pregen PC please bring a mini too, thanks! Or else let me know about the character in advance so I can bring one for you... :)

OK, I'll play a Gnome Illusionist then... but I don't have any mini (mainly because I tried to paint one once and it was simply not pretty!) :(

Well I have a gnome fool/juggler figure, my other 2 gnomes are fighters... :)

BTW demihumans are rare in my campaign setting, 99% of people are humans (goblinoids don't count...)

Also ...I am still confused about whos playing what Isle of Woe game.

There is me and 4 friends who wanna play at 12 and also there are four of you. I believe we cannot all play the same game so what are we to do. We are creating characters tonight so we need to know if we are free to create what we like or if we need to fill gaps.

Hello BeholderBurger!

I'm not sure who you're counting in which group! :p

In my group there is:

S'mon
Upper_Krust
Zander (myself)

In your group there is:

BeholderBurger (you)
Miho
Terry Wogan
Poilbrun
and one other

If I understand correctly, there'll be 8 of us in total for IoW. That's 2 more than recommended, but as we'll be 1st level I think we'll get away with it.
~~~
Hello andrew_kenrick!
Do you think 8 players will be OK for IoW?
Hello poilbrun!
Do you mean for IoW at 12 or the EN World game DMed by S'mon at 3?
Either way, I can bring a mini for you as long as you don't mind if it isn't painted. Will your PC be male or female? It would be easier if your PC were male.
I believe he means for my game. :)
My gnome jester figure (Corbitt Shortstuff from an Old Citadel boxed set, the Dwarf King's Court) is currently merely undercoated, but if you like I can probably get him painted up - I need to paint the dwarven sage PC fig I'm planning to use for the Isle of Woe game, anyway.
