Here's an NPC I've been working on...take a gander. My next project is to stat out some of his offspring...a legacy of adventurers that spans a century!

Background: Ulysses Solomon Walker has kept a surprisingly low profile over the decades, considering his many achievements. Born in 1899 to a wealthy physician, Walker was trained from birth to excel in a wide variety of academic and athletic fields, studying under the finest tutors money could buy. This rigorous upbringing produced a physical and mental superman, but also left young Walker emotionally repressed and distant.
At age 16, he enlisted with the French Foreign Legion, serving with distinction during the first World War. It was in the Legion that he met several of the men who in years to come would be his staunchest allies.
After the war, Walker completed his education and became an extraordinarily gifted surgeon. But he was driven by idealism and scientific curiosity to seek out challenges beyond the operating room. Using the wealth inherited from his late father, Walker, together with a loyal group of fellow scientist-adventurers, sought out lost civilizations and unexplained phenomena, and found himself pitted against evildoers whose methods placed them beyond the reach of conventional authorities. Their extraordinary exploits became the basis for a long-running series of semi-fictionalized sensationalistic adventure pulps....but in Walker’s case, the truth was often stranger than the fiction.
Of all the wonders Walker discovered in his journeys, none astonished him as much as Malinali, the beautiful princess of a hidden Aztec kingdom. Despite Walker’s misgivings about starting a family [because of his many enemies and the dangers of his work], he and Malinali were wed in 1935.
With the dawn of the second World War, Walker and his men were the free world’s greatest weapon against the Reich. Although they won many victories, for Walker, the war was lost in early 1945, when his beloved wife was slain by his old enemy Colonel Heinrich Reissman and an elite team of ninja assassins.
After the war, Walker retreated to his isolated lab in Antarctica. He largely retired from adventuring to concentrate on scientific research. Channeling his enormous financial resources into philanthropic endeavors, and entrusted the care and upbringing of his children --- the four sons Malinali left behind --- to his allies.
Not surprisingly, the Walker boys grew up to do great things themselves. But that’s another story...
Description: Even at 104 years old, Ulysses Walker is an amazing physical specimen, thanks in part to a lifetime of strict diet and rigorous exercise. At six foot five and two hundred twenty pounds, he gives the impression of am ancient oak tree --- scarred with age and time, but unbowed. His steel-gray eyes have seen wonder and horrors beyond the wildest dreams of ordinary men. His incredible intellect, decades of experience, and emotionally detached manner can make him quite intimidating.
Campaign Use: Walker is a living link to the Pulp Era. He can be used as a mentor, as a shadowy source of information and resources, or as the secret founder and director of Department-7. One or more of the PCs may discover a familial connection to Ulysses --- the third generation of Walkers are now old enough to begin making their mark on the world.
