I want to discuss character knowledge vs player knowledge. Our PCs have been living inside the city for awhile and have been dealing with the hordes for our entire lives. We might not know everything about them but we should have some basic understanding of the default zombie surrounding the city. How they react to stimuli and such. Not saying our knowledge is perfect but the simple questions I asked in the IC thread should be known.

As a player I am defaulting to cultural tropes regarding zombies. They move towards sounds, if they start moving they will continue in that direction till something stops them or makes them turn. But without the character knowledge to back that up it is hard to figure out a backup plan if tracking Julian fails. If you don't want to tell me this that is fine but then don't be surprised if I spend time experimenting to figure out the answers to these questions. I know character knowledge is not infallible and that is fine. However without some reference making a plan is going to be difficult.

The problem is that there are many kinds of undead. The standard zombie acts a lot like traditional zombies. But there are more than zombies. Particularly powerful or strong willed individuals become other things. Some have animalistic intellect. Some, like Vampires, are devious.

Now, most of the time, what's around the city is just standard zombies, but other kinds of undead are sometimes found there. Ghouls, wraiths, the rare vampire. It happens. Whether you will run into any is anyone's guess.

The stronger undead aren't a fan of daylight, so you could always do whatever you're going to do after dawn.

Which I understood, I was specifically wondering about the basic mindless zombie. Now that I have a frame of reference I can plan something. I know we can't assume all the tropes and even if we did they are still quasi intelligent and might act unexpectedly but at least I can assume that the can be herded somewhat with loud noises or some form of bait.

Not knowing much if anything on the stronger types is fine by me. We probably haven't encountered them before so would have no frame of reference. I am looking forward to the first time we see a zombie with intelligence which doesn;'t act as expected and blows our whole plan out of the water.
