Underrated RPGs

Ive only gotten a couple one-shots. It is such an awesome concept and setting, but you need the right group to make it work.
I had a campaign going but life happened and then the holidays and the campaign lost steam. I start a new campaign on Discord come the 25th. One of my players is a holdover, and he's really good at the game, so it's fun to play it with him.

So many times we’ve tried and never got out of the starting room.
I ran three adventures before life got hectic and out of my control. It's way better now and I am able to run Paranoia with a lot more consistency. I just would like a couple more people. I have good ideas and some committed players. With some patience I'm sure it'll go somewhere.

I have literally hundreds of games in pdf and dead tree that I wish more people played. But underrated? I don't know - they are obscure indie publications that may really only appeal to a small subset of the minuscule percentage of people who play RPGs compared to the general populace.

My choice is Paranoia. It's one of my favorite table toppers and hardly anyone plays it. I've been dying to get it going.
Do not die more than six times, citizen.
Your orders will be obeyed to the letter, Friend Computer.
Dying is treason!
Your avatar image is blue. What is your clearance level, citizen?
I absolutely adore #Paranoia. In fact it may be my favorite setting of all time. But this sort of thing is exactly why I can't run it, let alone discuss it online. People literally default to insipid autopilot in ways worse than #MontyPython fans. And it's especially frustrating given the scope of themes and situations which can be creatively addressed with its premise. It's got #DiscoElysium levels of depth, if only players were willing to explore it.

I really, really liked Carbon Grey (from West End games, using their classic d6 system). Cool art, simple rules, very playable pulp war setting, but it seems utterly forgotten :(

For sure! Ironsworn and Beyond the Wall were some of my favorite game books ever. I wish they were more well known (unless I missed something).
I thought I knew all of WEG's offerings, but never heard of it. Went looking, and there's a modern incarnation. DriveThruRPG It's got the WEG logo on it and all.

It's on the list!

I once played a Paranoia game at a con with weird rules. I was a spy from another alpha complex with no clones to back me up working in secret to sabotage the mission... I was disguised as a citizen of this complex... come to find out... so were all the other PCs. We were all clones from the same line, hence no clones available. We ended up strapped to a rocket to be sent back home...

God, I miss Paranoia.
