You are incorrect. See Aitch Eye's good post, above. Ed was using those deities for years.

<snip>

As to your "Raising Dead" comment - I haven't seen that in any product in more than 16 years of FR gaming.

Hmm... I understand the deities. Still don't really agree with their inclusion, but I can understand it.

Really, though, there are other examples like monsters that were in the 2E Greyhawk Monstrous Manual and later disappeared from Greyhawk and appeared in FR (don't remember which ones at the moment, though).

I've never actually seen the "Raise Dead" either -- of course, since I haven't played in FR since 1987 or so, it would be pretty hard for me to claim too much personal experience. It's just a way to relate the feel I get from the high level of magic I've seen evidenced in FR.

Well, not a great example either. ;) I never could figure out why they came out with those campaign-specific Monstrous Compendium appendices, since many of those monsters were in fact generic monsters found in the 1e MM1 and MM2! Ed long had the generic ones in the Realms before they were put in the "Greyhawk" appendix (or Dragonlance appendix, or whatever) during 2e.

I see what you're talking about, though. For example, if a kit was introduced in any of those "Complete" series of books, you can sure as heck bet that it would show up in a FR book a short while later.

(To be honest, I like that whole "kitchen sink" approach to FR - it gives me options on what to include - since the Realms are so huge anyways, it's usually (usually!!) not all that intrusive... *cough*options not restrictions*cough* ;))

Edit: Not saying that you vomit forth that "options not restrictions" tripe, of course!

Thalmin,

Can you give us the exact blurb regarding the Expanded Psionics Handbook?

Many thanks from an anxious Psion.
:)
An expanded version of the top-selling D&D Psionics Handbook, now larger and with a new cover.

The D&D Expanded Psionics Handbook has now been updated and revised, including an increased page count and an all new cover. Although it covers all of the same topics as the most recent version of the Psionics Handbook, this revision integrates more than two years of player feedback and will facilitate quicker integration of psionics into any campaign. The entire psionics system has been overhauled to better suit player needs, resulting in a more balanced power structure.
