Now there is a chance that this designer fellow could be confused.

I have a slight concern about WOTC failling into a "reiisue/repackage" motif. Of course is the products are good, then more power to them.

I'm not. Manual of the Planes and OA are soem of my favourite books, and quite different in design concept to the 1e originals (more designed as toolkits etc.) They're really just recycling the name and the basic subject matter...

MM2 and FF were nothing like the originals either, thats what Tome of Horrors was for.


A quick checklist of what was in Unearthed Arcarna 1985

Comeliness - ugh!
Subraces of dwarves, elves and gnomes - done.
Cavalier - done
Barbarian - done

Changes to the Ranger - done
Weapon specialization - done
Plate armor and buckler shields - done
Hand crossbows and other weapons - done

Traveling spell books - not needed

Non-human Deities - done (overdone in UA)
Pole arms - done (overdone in UA)

Conclusion: Even if comeliness makes a return, a new Unearthed Arcana will not be a rehash of old stuff. They will probably still find room for more changes to the ranger though.

I wouldn't mind seeing a few ranger variants, and even Comliness could have a place(at the very least it'd serve to remind RakeRon that Charisma is a measure of your personal magnetism and force of will, not how hot you are).

But what else could they be putting out?

Eh, WotC can call it "Unearthed Arcana" all they want but it won't really be the same book unless all of the pages start falling out within the first week.

Actually, my pages didn't fall out - the cover fell off. Of course you COULD say that all my pages fell out at one time, but I prefer the glass as half-full.
