Unlimited (always on) Item pricing

I was trying to create a magic item that always conferred "True Seeing", but I couldn't find anywhere where it gave the pricing for an "Always On" item that wasn't use-activated...

Anyone know how to do it?

I would just use "use-activated" as my starting point. 5 x 9 x 2000 = 90,000 gp.

I don't actually think that is a good way to do it BTW. Certain short duration spells are very powerful when always on. I would be very wary of allowing 1 round/level or 1 minute/level spells to be always on without boosting the price.

I would recommend considering True Seeing as a 6th level spell (it is for wizards and sorcerors) and use 6 x 11 x 2000 = 132,000 gp. That sounds about right.

Start with (spell level) x (caster level) x 2,000gp. Now tweak it up or down from there.

For example, True Seeing always on would look like this: 6 x 11 x 2,000gp = 132,000gp

A Gem of Seeing is 75,000gp. Half the cost of the formula above is 66,000gp, so we're pretty close at 132,000gp. Now adjust it to whatever makes you comfortable.

Generally, any spell that grants a great effect for a limited duration (1 minute/round or less), but is applied to be always on, your pretty safe using the above formula and then doubling the cost for a good starting point.
 

Always-on items are usually rings. I just picked out a couple of examples, and found that the "cost factor" for a ring appears to wander around 1500. (Rings of Blinking and Spell Turning have a factor of 1428. Telekinesis has a factor of 1667.)

Using 1500 makes a Ring of True Seeing cost 99,000. That seems reasonable, since it doesn't require a free hand as the Gem of Seeing does.

Technically, it does require a slot, either your hand (holding it there) or a slot for goggles (if you strapped it around your head, or nailed it into your face). You have to look through it, after all.

None of those examples are always on.

As for the original question, Defenders of the Faith has an item that allows constant true seeing, and I believe that it is priced at 90,000gp. However, they forgot the all important material components cost in their calculations. True Seeing requires a 250gp salve, which equates to 25,000 extra gp in cost (component cost x 100 for an uncharged item).
