UPDATE - Decorating a Wizard's lair - need help! And my players, stay out, please

After all that, include a perfectly cubic 10x10x10 room.

When the door is closed, from the inside the door fades and disappears (but can be located without too much trouble. by someone approaching it as it will fade back in)

The walls are white. Absolutely featureless and utterly smooth.

The room is very, very quiet.

It's purpose?

That's it. That's all. Simpliciter.

If they are a determined bunch, they'll spend quite a while trying to figure out what the thing is for and what it is supposed to do.

As they experiment, they may come up with an obviously FIENDISH purpose for the room all on their own. If they are especially imaginative, hell, go with the flow. :D

I say look to what you see in your house and other houses. ;)

Boxes of books and mags, nothing magical about them just lots of them in storage. Same for outfits.

Collection of? Playing cards, playboys, stock cars, butterflys, heads, claws, scoll cases, staffs, beer bottles, the list is endless on the things people collect and the wizard could have a whole room of some crazy thing! ;) for me I think I would have a room where minatures are set up for battle reenactment, the small little figures come to life and the battle is replayed over and over.

After taking all these suggestions, I have plenty of material for some other weirdness to introduce to my players, for which you all have my thanks.

Incidentally, we gamed yesterday, and I went with the Magic Telescope; They took one look at the 'scope, wheeled around it's base a couple of times (pointed at the floor), decided it was better left unexplained, and left for the next room.

Don't you love it when players do that? :D

Well, I'm honored that you could use a semblance of my suggestion. And I'm vaguely irritated at your players for you for not getting into more trouble with it. I'll vaguely smite them at NC Game Day next weekend. ;)
