And now for my latest update...
Unfortunately, I haven't had the time or the inclination to continue the story hour. Working 2 jobs is sucking the life right outta me. But I can still give you updates, so we can see how all our hard work is doing.
The gang spent a month searching for info on their new wizard-targets. In that time, the PC drow went away and was replaced by his new character, a Cleric Purple Dragon Knight. The gang then got invited to dinner with one of the wizards - the one who was with Halaster, and went by the name of Randall. He asked them to recover a tapestry that a noble had stolen from him, and he would tell them who took Azoun in return.
The gang found out that the noble was in fact a gold dragon, and that the tapestry was really his in the first place. Needless to say, the theft went over well. They managed to dupe the tapestry so that both people who wanted it wouldn't kill them. Randall told them that Alusair was responsible for the kidnapping. They then met with the dragon to discuss matters -- however, it went mad and tried to kill them! They narrowly escaped, and returned the next day to take it down (they assumed it had been overcome by the Rage). When it was slain, it exploded and a demon was left standing in its place. A quick mental image showed that the demon has been trapped there by Randall, that it was part of some kind of test, and that it was PO'd.
After the fight was over, the Knight received word through his ring of sending that Zhents working with Sembia had tried to kill Alec! The armies were mounting up to prepare for a retaliatory invasion -- making matters worse was the fact that it was believed that the Sembians were harboring Alusair, who had gone missing! And it seemed that the Zhents had another powerful ally as well -- the Red Wizard that was one of the three the PCs had been seeking out...
The Cormyr-loyal PCs mounted up for war, while the others headed home to seek further info on these new developments...
As you can see, the plot has gotten truly thick indeed. The next time we play, I think some of the pieces might begin falling into place... it should be fun. Again, just thought you'd all like to hear how our ideas have fared so far
