"Aaah, there you are", Lafayette says. "Well, we're pretty much done here, time for the forensic guys to do their job. Give me a call later today, I'll have a list of those with acces here, and hopefully we'll have most of 'em interviewed. We'll see who has no alibi. Anyways, give me a call or drop by at the office."

"Will do, Lafayette," Simon replied. "I believe we will be reviewing the area and perimeter for a short time yet. I shall give you a call regarding the alibi list, the tapes, and anything else forensics may uncover."

Simon almost asked whether Lafayette or any of his people had seen anything strange here, but Simon's eyes caught the disfigured corpse of the watchman and the words hung in his throat.

Jennifer slides the amulet back into the package and looks to the curator. Assuming he is done talking to police, she will approach him with the amulet.

"Excuse me, Curator, but what can you tell me about this amulet?" she asks, handing him the package while explaining, "This is the late package from Congo and, seeing as the perpetrators focused soley on things from Congo, I'm curious as to whether it may have anything to do with what was taken."

Simon, as you see jennifer opening the package, it is as if she is holding a piece of the sun. the moment she touches it a white light spreads allover her body, transfusing her skin and making it glow. When she puts it back in the box the light slowly fades.

Jennifer, as you toch the amulet a faint tingling can be felt allover your body for just a second.

"Thank the gods you've found it" the curator says. "I was afraid we'd lost it to those thieves."

"Tis is one of the oldest artifacts we've discovered so far. It is said to be one of the eggs of Danh-Gbwe, the rainbow serpent." His dust dry-voice takes on a lecturing tone."It was said Danh-Gbwe gave it as a protection to the chief of one of the tribes of the songye thousands of years ago. The tribe grew prosperous as long as the chief wore it. It was passed down from father to son. Then in the early nineteenth century thew were christianised. The local missionaries were impressed with the cross-like markings and persuaded the chief to part with it in exchange for a crucifix." A dry chuckle escapes his lips. "Off course, with colonisation came western diseases, and within a year the tribe was wiped out by disease and war with neighbouring tribes who saw their chance. The survivors fled to the deep jungle, convinced they angered the rainbow serpent."

"Well, thank you very much. Is here anything else you wanted to know?"

Jennifer nods, clearly interested by what the curator is saying.

What was that tingling? There must be power of some sort remaining in this amulet. But then again, it might be a somatoform reaction to an ancient symbol of power. Heh.

"I'd be interested to see a report on what was taken actually, because if nothing's missing we could assume they were going after this," she replies, carefully handing it to him, "Best keep it somewhere secure, just in case."

Jennifer turns to leave the room and spots Simon. She smiles broadly and walks over to him, hastily explaining everything she had come across while they were separated.

"Find anything of interest?" she asks expectantly.

"We'll keep it as safe as we can. We're still doing an inventory, it will take a few days i guess" he says, looking around at the total chaos.

"Thats everything I guess," Jennifer says after thanking the curator for his time, she looks to Simon, "Anything else you want to check before we leave?"

. . . she looks to Simon, "Anything else you want to check before we leave?"

"Well, to be honest . . .I wouldn't my having us hold onto that amulet for the time being," Simon suggested. "Until security is re-established here, the item would not be safe. . . "

Simon looked appraisingly at the curator, ". . . nor would anyone working here be safe were they to return. Only the curator, you and myself would know that we have it. In addition, having it may allow us to research the reason of its significance to those who attacked and murdered that guard."

After waiting for a response, Simon would at the very least want to take several digital photos of the item. If given the amulet, he will have Jennifer take it from the curator. Finally, once he managed to get to speak with Jennifer alone for a moment, he added, "There were several odd things that happened in that room, did you feel anything a moment ago when you held the amulet?"

"Well, well, eeeuhm... This is a highly unusual request. Do you have any idea of the value of that thing?" The curator doesn't really know what to think.

"on the other hand, if the thieves take it it'll be lost, no?" He quickly looks around. "Here, take it. I'll write it down as lost.... But you better make sure we get it back in before the start of the exposition"

[can't believe it, first festy, now you have a nat twenty. If I roll this good for the bad guys as well you're toast]

Something did happen!

"Well, yes. I felt a stange tingling sensation, but I didn't think much of it," she replies, her eyes wide with concern, "What did you see?"

"In addition, the leopard man statue in the exhibit had blood on its claws one minute then not the next . . . and it seemed as though it was watching me. When I investigated it, there was nothing . . . but there was something there," Simon finished.

"Regardless, we need to determine the significance of that amulet," Simon finished.
