Urn Your Pay (Rae judging)

Round 5, continued

ooc: Halford is right... about the AoO, at least ;)

Cyian, fumbling with his backpack, misses Carlos with a clumsy lunge.

Carlos drops the spent scroll, now just an empty piece of paper, and draws himself up to his full height of five feet and ten inches in his cap. "You haven't seen the last of Carlos Cloudsong!" he pronounces. Then he withdraws, somehow moving with superhuman speed! It becomes all too clear what that spell must have been. (ooc: withdraw action, 120' movement SSE.)

Seeing his leader run, the last remaining thug spits a curse and runs into the forest. The foliage quickly closes around him, hiding him completely, though the noise he is making pinpoints his position well enough that he could be followed.

Erf steps over to Fenenn and hauls himself aboard, and they race toward the action. Erf drops his dagger and pulls his sling out.

Ter-raen 6/14 <--- You're up
Gildrim 5/9
Cyian 9/9
Carlos Cloudsong 8 damage, expeditious retreat
Thug 1 4 damage, total concealment
Thug 2 21 damage, dead
Thug 3 20 damage, dead
Erf 12/12
Fenenn 13/13

[Sblock=OOC]:Hmm, probably a minute on the expeditious retreat. He'll gain 800ft. on Erf in that time and is already 35 away. Erf'll stay on him! After ER ends he gains at 40ft per round.

If you just want me to drop it let me know btw :D

However, if he heads into the forest that is reduced to a gain of 20ft. per round due to the difficult terrain and if Fenen gets within 30ft of him he'll nab him with scent if he tries to hide.

Erf probably gets off one shot at two range increments, so I'll role that before I have to head out here.

Crackshot that he is Erf hits an AC of -7.

I'll roll three more just in case he does get the oppertunity. The idea is to speed up a part of the combat that the others might not be involved in feel free to veto Corvaithe. He will pretty much only hit on a nat 20...

They all miss at anyrate.

Cyian HP:9 AC:18 (shield on battle over)

Round 6= Preparing for battle

Cyian retrieves his shield that's been strapped to the outside of his backpack. As he slips it over his arm he looks over at Gildrim. "What now?" he asks the dwarf.

Ter-raen, HP 6/14, AC 18, round 6

Ter-raen is feeling quite satisfied for now, his own skills being proven, having taken care of two ambushers. However, seeing the gnome and his pet rush forward towards the further fleeing ambusher, Ter-raen can't help but wonder: Bloodthirsty gnome? Hmm. Better follow. Might have more ambushers! Ter-raen gives a quick shout to the dwarf and the young man as he passes them by, "Following the gnome!"

[sblock=OOC]
Run SSE, since that seems the most logical direction to catch up to Erf.

[Sblock=OOC]It's not that Erf's bloodthirsty its that that is not how its supposed to go in Erf's shiny storybook adventure.

And just for the record had any of the thugs gone to negative hp as opposed to negatie pulses Erf would have stayed around to stabalize them.

Of course Ter-raen knows none of this, lol.

Plus in further effort to justify Erf taking actions that I would admittedly like to take Carlos seems likely to attempt pulling the same trick again and must be handed over to the authorities! Erf also rather wants his hat.

In other words I agonized over whether I would try to chase him down and justified it to myself with a bit of effort...

On a side note I probably won't post tomorrow as I am running a 4th edition game tomorrow for DnD Day and have just got the books - much reading must be done![/Sblock]

ooc: I'm happy to play out the chase if you guys want to. You actually have a slight chance to catch him, which I didn't expect. But I'm not out of tricks yet! I need to know if Ter-raen is trying to catch up to Erf, or if he's trying to chase Carlos. It sounds like Cyian intends to stay with Gildrim; what does Gildrim intend?

"Mah legs ur too short tae be chasin' efter awbody, an' dwarves ur nae at their best amang th' trees." Gildrim picks up the short sword dropped by Carlos. "Spoils ay war, laddie," he says, presenting it to Cyian. "Keep an eye oot fur th' ane that got awa', but let's search th' twa dead anes, ur whit's left ay them."

Ter-raen is trying to catch up to Erf, rather than chase Carlos. He's just another fleeing bandit to him, not much reason to pursue. But just in case Erf falls into another ambush.

Cyian

[sblock=ooc] sounds like it's Halfords call to play out the chase or not[/sblock]

Cyian takes the sword from Gildrim." War?... did you say ones? Oh," Cyian puts a hand to his stomach." No you go ahead, I'll stay here and keep an eye out for that other bandit. And for Erf and Ter-raen." The color drains alittle from Cyians face as he sees the red tinge on the tip of his own sword.

[sblock=ooc2] I am very glad we survived are first combat. Boy was I scared after I saw Gildrim didn't make his save either and he gets what +4 to will saves?[/sblock]

[Sblock=OOC]Hmm, would you judge the ground we are on to be soft Corvaithe? If so Erf, Fenenn and Ter-raen have a decent chance to track CC. The DC wuld be 10 allowing us to do it without the Track feat if we can ae a ten Erf makes it, if not he needs a 5 on a role or is unable to fail if Fenenn and Ter-raen aide him, though Ter-raen is probabl better of doing it with aide from Erf and Fenenn since he is faste.[/Sblock]
