Urn Your Pay (Rae judging)

"If you're staying at the inn tonight, you'll hear plenty of stories about who all went in after the lizardfolk, how many they killed and what treasures they took, but you're a fool if you believe one of 'em. Still, it's not my place to talk about what happened then. Nowadays, we don't talk to the lizardfolk and they don't talk to us.

"Och, Grendath's hairy... hem, pardon me, Ah'm in th' presence ay a leddy. Naebody in toun's bin huntin' an' picklin' 'em fur servin' at th' inn, hae they?"
Ter-raen hurriedly tries to finish chewing that irritatingly tough piece of lizard meat. Almost done. Tough! But... wonder how much town people pay for lizard meat. Nice taste. Chewy. With a little sweet.

Sister Anemone's eyebrows shoot up in surprise. "Grendath's hairy pardon me indeed, child! What kind of place do you think this is? We wouldn't no more pickle lizardfolk than we would pickle dwarf! What a notion!"

Erf said:
"Ah, well maybe you don't get out into the swamps much now, but when you were a bitte younger I bet they couldn't keep a fiesty girl like ye away from all that mucky fun! Surely ye must be able to give us a bitte help so we don't go muddlin' like a pack of rummed up goblins?"

He flashes her a great grin as he waves his arms and rolls his eyes, impersonating the aforementioned "rummed up goblins."

"When I was a bit younger? Just what are you trying to say, gnome?" she growls, but there's a bit of a twinkle in her eye.

Erf said:
"So it sounds like the Lizard folk are willin' to be friends so long as ye don't go tryin' it on. We'll be alright then! I like lizards, even of the none pickled variety, anythin' that can lick its own eyeball is alright by me! When ye used to talk to them who'd ye chat with? Anybody we should ask for? We just need to recover a nick-nack thats of no use to them so we ought to be able to work out something mutually beneficial."

She almost laughs at the eyeball licking comment, but shakes her head regretfully. "If I had any contacts left in the swamp -- and I'm not saying I do! -- I couldn't go giving 'em out just like that, now could I? Not with the fools in this town carrying on like they are."

[sblock=ooc]I rolled a diplomacy check for Erf: 1d20-1=12 Not quite good enough on its own, but good enough to keep the door open for further attempts, if anyone else wants to try.[/sblock]

Erf grins guiltily.

"He, I mean the other month or somethin', know I'm well past my hundredth year, hundred and eleven to be precise - and Fenenn's getting on a bit in dog years, right boy? So, er, how could you go givin' them out? Ye've got me word that we won't be startin' any trouble."

[Sblock=OOC]Well here it goes, against my better judgement, but in character with Erf.... Oh dear.

Diplomacy check. (1d20-1=7)

How about busting out that lovely +6 diplomacy Cyian?[/Sblock]

Cyian

[sblock=ooc] O.k. I'll give it my best but remember I wasted my 20 on the Listen check[/sblock]

"Erf is right Sister Anemone, we really don't want to cause anymore trouble we just need to find the manor house. We could help since were not from the village maybe we could talk to the lizardfolk, maybe help restore the relationship between them and Cragger's Rest." Cyian says with the respect do a high priestess."And I think we should talk to the lizardfolk about the manor house as well it's their swamp they probably know every inch of it."

Diplomacy = 22

"An' it micht nae be polite tae mah friends, but Ah ken th' tongue ay th' scaly thingmies tay. An' Ah'm michty relieved tae hear Ah've nae bin eatin' onything that cuid hae spoken back tae me ance. Thaur willnae be onything gettin' pickled in th' swamp, Ah kin assure ye, nae even me. Ah'm nae a dwarf fur big drinkin'."

"Eh, Erf? Ye're mair than a hunder years auld? Ah'm anely a few muins wantin' ay sixty, mahsel'. Ye're still a wee green laddie, thocht."

"Oh we forest gnome live a decent bitte time, why my Grangran's five hundred and two!"

[Sblock=OOC]According to the MMI forest gnomes live to be five hundred, so Erf isn't really that old for his race.[/Sblock]

She stares up at Cyian for a minute with a troubled look, reaching up to almost touch his cheek before pulling back. "Lady of water, but you remind me of my Periwinkle, so young, and so... Well, I'm a fool no better than Cardith himself for doing it, but if you want a meeting, I'll try to get you one. Tomorrow morning at dawn, meet me half a mile east of this willow tree here. From there, I'll either take you further or send you back empty handed. Can't say which. Now go on, then, get back to town, I've got work to do. Unless you've a need for potions, in which case be quick about it."

"That's as auld as Bofgrim th' Auld, an' he wis th' auldest dwarf iver, an' had a white beard sae lang he coud tuck it in his buits tae keep his feet wairm," Gildrim answers the gnome musingly.

"Ah, noo, noo, nae sae hasty," he says after Anemone's offer. "Ur we shuir we wan' tae meet th' lizardfowk? Ur dae we jes' wan' tae ken whit tae say an' wha tae talk tay if we happen tae run intae them?"

"Ah'm nae sayin' we willnae dae ur best tae mend relations, but we'll need tae talk it ower."

"I'd like to meet the lizard folk! Can't imagine we'd get far in the swamp without doing so anyway. At least this way nobody is surprised and we have a better chance of everything being nice 'n friendly. In my experience daft decisions made when startled by new folk cause a good bitte trouble."

He looks at Gildrim tilting his head to the right.

"Wish I could grow a big old beard, must be great you could tie stuff to it so you'd never forget it."

[Sblock=OOC]covaithe would you object to me having Erf scribe a few scrolls against the experience he has - thankfully - not yet recieved. I know a few extra Cure Lights could sure come in handy. As I understand the craft system I don't need to spend the time but rather the craft points gold and experience. Is this also the case on adventures? Or do I need to actually find 8 hours for scribing?[/Sblock]
