Could a Specialist Wizard with UMD use a runestaff to cast spells from an opposed school if he was capable of casting spells of the required level?

The question is: Does UMD overrides the restriction on prohibited schools?
For me it's NO, for exemple rogues don't cast spells but can use srolls or spell complexion items when using UMD, it's different from a prohibition, for a specialist spellcaster you use UMD to tell the object you can use it but when the magic is going to exit it's impossible for you to make the good gesture/speech or whatever.
I agree that's a very hot spot and may be a house rule.

I'd say he can because a spec Wiz/Sor is not restricted when he chooses spells known.
And a spec Wiz/Rog could use his rogue levels to use magic device his prohibeted schooles. So I don't see why a spec wiz should have this disadvantage, or even have to multiclass to use that (by the way, with UMD beeing no class skill he will have it difficult enough to cast decend spells with UMD)
I don't think that this is realy powerfull, this rule doesn't benefit the wizard as it does the spontaneous caster, who come around the spells known disadvantage.
So warlock should be the one who gets most out of runestaffs.

So here's my area of concern...
Beguiler/Specialist Wizard/Ultimate Magus with high UMD skillz but opposed Evocation wants to use a Runestaff of Fire and throw fire spells around. The runestaff spells don't appear on either list but they do appear on his class spell list (but they're banned). He's technically capable of casting the appropriate level spell, they're on his class list but he would need to "fool" the item to get it all to work.
Possible? Impossible? Jicky?
