Use the Force is Cha-based?! (not...Wis?)

Look at Episode 3, where a group of Jedi Masters are slain quite easily by Darth Sidious. While these masters probably were good with the force or misc skills, they definitely showed that their light saber combat skills were lacking.

In that case, though, I think level was a big issue. Kit Fisto, the dude with all the tentacles on his head, was supposed to be pretty good. That whole scene was an issue, though, and I think the three masters with Mace were wasted; especially considering what could have been done with them. I mean, at least show how good they are before killing them off, so it has more impact than "the three mooks, er, *masters* are killed off by this guy easily".
But good point!

I'm finding the line between melee or force-powers Jedi to be pretty defined. And I get the feeling that a Dex-Cha melee build is better than a Str-Con build, simply because of the overlap of defenses and attacks: one or two damage is nothing compared to several Reflex *and* to-hit *and* Force buffs of whatever type. But this is just to start with.

Melee smasher types in Saga can tend to be extremely hard-hitters, largely because two-handed wielding doubles Strength and Power Attack bonuses, and there are several ways to stack up more damage on a heavy hit, which makes them tempting at first glance. But their need to get up front and into close combat tends to make them 'glass cannons' - even with Deflect, such a character can become the focus of a lot of effective ranged attacks very quickly.

Force Power based builds thrive at the mid-single-figures levels, where they'll have accumulated a decent power suite and Skill Focus in Use The Force, because Saga's maths skew things in favour of skill checks more than regular attack rolls at low levels. That will even out in the early double figures level-wise and start to tip the other way from then on, though careful choice of powers can still make the Force Wizard the most versatile character by mid-teens, with a Power, Talent or Secret to fit every occasion.
