Using Scarred Lands stuff for homebrew?

As a gamemaster, I like the various Creature Collections the most. When I play, I like the Relics & Rituals books because of the magic rules (items and spells). I do not much mind having to go through the tomes because I do the same thing for the D&D core books.

There is a necessary "tweak" level for the SL material, just like any other product. It all depends on the homebrew material, IMO. For instance, I like the Titans, but I converted them to more primal beings who have willingly chosen to lessen their presence in the campaign world. This has created a stir in the mortals that follow them. I like some of the background material for the SL, and have adopted it into the campaign story.

Overall, I like the SL material. While I cannot afford to purchase all that I may want, I will seriously consider whatever product they put out for the public.

I use a few Scarred Lands books for my FR campaign. I use monsters from CC1 and CC2, as well as spells, items, and rituals (especially) from R&R1 and R&R2. (I got those books when 3e was young, though, and will not be buying any more CCs or R&Rs, as I'm very tired of those kinds of books.)

I also have bought some SL city supplements for use in my FR campaign, as they are quite easy to insert - Mithril, Hollowfaust, and Shelzar. The "tweaks" are really just some deity name changes (and city name changes, if necessary)...

Use the Relics & Rituals books pretty heavily, some of the prestiges fit well in the campaign as "secret societies". One of my players swears by Garnest's Farstrike, we all use Foreaction (+5 Init, similar to Khauper's from MoF), and Chaos Flame is my Wizard's "Punish the Heathen!" spell when I play. High Astrologer = very nice combo of role & roll-playing.

Use Creature books off and on; with over 6 books of monsters not all of them will ever get used.
To date my players = "Cave Moths suck!" ... I've had to alter them a bit as they are a CR1 and Smother/suffocate as an attack.
I'm personally in love with the NightController... yumm..
Other than that the books artwork is highly disturbing and I rarely read them before dining or going out on a date.. kudos to the artists.

Divine & Defeated = Borrow from the various types of dieites avatars.
spells = Chardun's Wrath (?) is almost Always cast now by Clerics of War-dieties imhc. Combined with Enlarge and Empower/or/Maximize its a good party buffer that has helped in combats.
