Valar Project

I've not heard of anything new from Valar- but while we're talking about them, I have a question? Has anyone used their Book of Erotic Fantasy for character creation or whilst running a game?

I bought it when it came out and have not actually used it in game. However, I'm contemplating a OGL Wild West or Sidewinder: Recoiled game in which the PCs are settlers making their way west along teh Oregon Trail. One of the NPCs I was going to include was a spoiled rich girl who embarrassed her family by being caught in a 'romantic' entanglement. When she became pregnant, she was entrusted to the care of a family friend (to work as a servant) of her father who happened to be making the trip west. In any case, the Book of Erotic Fantasy has serviceable rules for pregnant characters, so I got that much use out of it at least.

I don't have it -- it's not on sale anywhere near me, nor new through online vendors -- but doesn't it have lots of stuff about love, courtship, marriage and the like (complete with gods for many of those, sort of like the real world, where pantheons weren't 100 percent Gods of Kicking Butt)? If so, I can certainly see using it to flesh out, so to speak, my campaigns, which is why I'm hoping for a reprint/update.

You didn't miss anything. My imagination is much worse and detailed than "that" book. I'm happy to have paid only 10 dollars for it at a card store in Saratoga.

I used only parts. As a player, I used several of the spells, but that game was mostly a hack-n-slash game. I didn't get to do much more than that. If memory serves me, I think my old players got their first taste of it after a couple of characters got involved in the game together. I asked the simple question of 'did you use any protection?' Needless to say they flipped. The male character was disturbed that the female character, which was a favored soul, was trusting her goddess for protection. The odd part was the male character was playing a paladin of Anhur, so I don't quite understand why he couldn't understand trusting the wisdom of one's god.

BoEF was a wonderful book. I did have a problem with outsiders giving birth as quickly as they did....the paladin of Anhur in my game was worknig toward half-celestial...

Quickly? A pregnancy lasting one month per hit die doesn't seem that quick.

and if it is only one hit die? I have horrible images going through my mind of a female adventurer going through 9 months worth of pregnancy in one month.

and then there are images of them casting Blessed Seed and doing that every month.

Last I knew, Anthony had switched gears and was now in the printing aspect of the business. More money, less work and far less headaches.

He told me that when he released the book way back at Gencon. I was cleaning out old bookmarks and went to the site to see what was up and I was surprised. Does anyone know if that's been like that for over a year or is that recent?

Doh, looking at my post count I lost over 500 posts...
