variable resistance

(hey, a question not on essentials!)

Its my understanding that variable resistance is not an interupt. But this begs the question: how usefull is it?

EDIT: I guess there is the case of ongoing damage.

Being a free action, I've always allowed it to interrupt. But I don't see support for that in the Compendium.

Thats the way I was doing it...but ya, RAW it may not be.

When I posted a similar thread here a few months back, I was told that, since it's a free action, variable resistance can be invoked after an attack hits and before it deals damage.

I think the issue is that there isn't any terminology to designate an action a "free interrupt" and they didn't want variable resistance to take up a demon's immediate action for the round.

I have always treated variable resistance as an interrupt, and since it appears on Minion Demons (e.g., Mane), if it is not treated as an interrupt it has absolutley no use for them.
