Versatile and Fighter Weapon Talent question

First Post
Let's say you picked one-handed for your fighter weapon talent, do you still get the bonus to attack rolls when you use a versatile weapon two-handed? What if you use it 2-handed to make a power attack? Do you get both the bonus to hit from 1-handed fighter weapon talent and the extra bonus to damage for using power attack 2-handed?

If you're using a weapon two-handed, you're not using it one-handed and as such don't get any bonuses that attach to using something one-handed.

The fighter weapon talent refers to weapon types (one-handed or two-handed), not how they are actually used.

Choose either one-handed or two-handed weapons. When using a weapon of your chosen style, you gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls.
Perhaps "style" implies to how the weapon is used, but I'm inclined to grant the to-hit bonus by weapon, not how a versatile weapon is used. It's easier for the player to remember to add +1 to damage when using a versatile weapon in two hands than to remember a -1 to-hit modifier.

A character using a versatile weapon with two hands is probably alternating between single and double-handed use throughout any given fight. As such, I'd have no difficulty interpreting the feat to apply to all weapons that appear in the One Handed Weapons section of the equipment table (Edit: except in the hands of a small critter, where it is essentially a two handed weapon).

The best guidance I've seen on this...

As a rule of thumb when using a versatile weapon, default to giving the player the most beneficial reading of a rule or situation regarding one or two handed use.

So, the fighter would still get his weapon talent, and he could also gain the benefits of reaping strike.

Versatile is intended to let you have your cake and eat it too.
