Very Large Parties

What was the largest party of players that you guys have played in during a campaign?

Has anybody ever played with a group where there were about 11 or 12 people with one person was a barbarian, one as a bard, one as a cleric, one as a druid, one as a fighter, one as a monk, one as a paladin, one as a ranger, one as a rogue, one as a sorcerer, and one as a wizard? That would sound like a cool party that I would like to be in for a large party campaign.

Once had a party of 14 under my evil paws, one of the players kept inviting players along without telling me, till finally I snapped adn did some culling to get the numbers down adn gave the player responsible a sever slap on the wrist..... ;)

I had a group of five ... but I was sorely tempted to bump it up to eight. However, I'm not sure about my skills handling now let alone with more players.

I start a group of seven on Sunday. I think some will have to die off on a weekly basis to keep my sanity. I perfer group sizes in the 3 and 4 range.

Ouch. Quite a jump; how will you handle the entire situation (you know, keeping aaaaall seven occupied and happy)?

We find out sunday. I'm playing a genre (modern) that isn't my strength, I'm handling way too many PCs then I'm used (been 6 years since i handled more then 5) and I'm not even comfortible around all the players becasue I just don't know them that well. On top of that the current game is floundering, and the game I'm replacing ended as a dud. My first time really DMing for them as well. So, I'm going for broke and running my style of game and see how they handle it.

I've done 14 before in 2e, and it jsut didn't work.

Right now I have seven, and to be honest its a bit much. I've capped it - no one else can join the group unless we split the groups or someone leaves.

My perfect size would be five or six players.

Do you guys think 10 is too much for a messageboard game?

That's a whole different area. It really depends on how often you expect them to post. For instance their might be some that can post multiple times daily, but others that can post less frequant. Sometimes the story moves fast leaving people behind or gets caught waiting for someone to post.
