[VERY OT]The future of Seasame St.??

I like it better now. I never did like how the story was broken up into little segments. The new format eliminates that, and I'm pleased with Maria's new career.

You still have Elmo's World and Monster Clubhouse(!!). Can't beat that.

:-)

I wonder how much experience the Cookie Monster is worth?

I have a barbarian that's a few points shy of gaining a level...

:D

COOOOOOOOOOOKIE!!! I can't remember if he was mentioned or not... he and Oscar best be in the new format...they're my favoites.

Oh well, at least the Count is still around..."VON! TWOO! THREEE! AHHH AH AH AH!"

Oh yeah...the Count...

I'm guessing he's CR 6 monster. My barbarian is level 6 so that means he's worth 1,600 XP. More than enough to gain a level!

:D

The Count always makes me think of Ravenloft...

Ya see, we played I6 very very late at night and foudn things quite funny. After discovering the girl in the bed in one of the towers one of my PCs cries out, "Strahd's a pedophille!" After that, the fear of the adventure went right downt he pisser...LOL. After that encounter, whenever I mentioned Count Strahd, the said PC would start counting--and the other made up a little diddy to the tune of Mambo No. 5 by lou bega "one, two, three four five, it may look like it but i'm not a-live...."

Ah jeeze...good times

I think that the show has been in steady decline ever since Jim Henson passed on. The show was clever, educational, and had a lot of nuance to it. Now it's slowly turning into 60 minutes of non-stop baby talk and screeching.

I know that I'm coming across like "why, back in MY day" but really, is it an improvement to the show that we get to hear Elmo banging on a piano and singing a different word over and over to the tune of Jingle Bells every single day? Is it an improvement to the show that every new creature that gets added to the show is yet another identical looking monster that does not speak proper English?

I think that children should be exposed to stuff that is above their level. If they are immersed in baby talk all day long then there is nothing pushing them to learn and grow.

There was a time when other shows tried to emulate Sesame Street. Now Sesame Street is playing catch up to shows like Teletubbies, Blue's Clues, and Dora the Explorer. Unfortunately, those three shows all do a better job of what they do than Sesame Street seems to be doing now in each category after the new changes.

Did you see Ernie's Journey? It's a pretty gimped rip off of Dora/Blue's Clues.

I completely agree with Kenjib. My three year old still likes Sesame street, but I put it on for him less and less. Luckily, wwe get the "Noggin" channel, which shows older Sesame Street, and even Electric Company and other vintage PBS stuff. Compared directly with today's episdoes, the p;der ones are just plain better, IMO.
