Victorian Era D20?

Sword and Sorcery is supposed to come out with an offical conversion of Masque of the red Death for their ravenloft 3e series. Not sure on the realease date.
Deadlands has some weapons for d20 that you could use.

If you want rules for the steam tech side of things in a Victorian-theme campaign, check out Steam & Steel when it finally gets released by EN Publishing (soon now! :D)

As an aside, hey, Tetsujin, you ever gonna turn up at Durham Gamesoc then? I've seen your comments floating about the mailing list, but that's all.
It's been difficult for me to find the time. I'm doing BA Ancient History and Archaeology, and there's sort of a campaign amongst the SCR @ Castle to get me bumped up to MA status, next year. Which would save me £20,000 :), but it means that I have to be a lot more prepared than other people, as I have to attempt to convince the course convenor next week.

On top of this, my g/f of 3 1/2 years broke up with me shortly after I arrived, which means that the time I haven't been spending on Cicero has been expended getting lashed ;)

Why you say that?
Because it's basically a Marxist conspiracy theory version of Shadowrun, but without any of the amusingly kooky bits that would make such a game fun. A fantasy game based on literature such as Robert Louis Stevenson's New Tales of the Arabian Nights or The Dynamiters (both of which include anarchist and secret society elements) would be a hoot. Instead, it's incredibly serious and po-faced, not to mention half-baked. The author's interpretation of Marxism is pretty sketchy, as well -- it appears he's never read Engles, frex.

System-wise, it's a disappointment, as well -- just another bunch of random spells that don't reflect Victorian ideas of magic (read Joseph Ennemoser's History of Magic, reprinted 1970, for an authentic early Victorian viewpoint) . You could run a great Victorian Shadowrun game using For Faerie Queen and Country and whatever game you prefer. I'd probably use Hero or BESM/dX, but d20M+Urban Arcana could work well, too. It would cost you a lot less, as well -- Victoriana's an expensive book ($35, IIRC).

The reason why I am looking for a a fulle written campaign withe background, classes, feat, spells and all the need material is because I do not have the time or the mental health to create a full world right now. It is better for me to use the material that is already there and maybe use the other sourcebooks to add those material in later.

So you see that is why I am looking for a more complete campaign setting than using 3-5 seperate materials from different sources to create something I do not have the time for.

I have heard of a D20 game coming out called Etherscope which is there version cthulupunk. A mix of scifi, horror, a little victorian techology and cthulu feel rolled into one book.

I would suggest FFQaC (c. $5 as a download), combined with Big Eyes, Small Mouth, then. That way, magic would just work the way you like it to (using the Dynamic Magic attribute), and you could just use FFQaC's background, which is quite charming and a lot of fun.

:D You have mail.

Back to the thread, tecnowraith, it sounds like you should really look @ Carnifex's supplement. Cheap as chips, and from what I've heard of it, pretty nice, as well.

GMS, what are the chances of seeing an Age of Empire d20 game? :D

Just wanted to drop in a quick update on this: Adamant Entertainment has come to an agreement with the current rights-holder on my old Age of Empire RPG, and will be releasing an OGL version (not using the D20 STL...it will be complete including character creation) in 2004.

The game will be titled Age of Gaslight.

I'll be rolling out press releases and web-stuff soon.

Well, if anyone is looking for victorian era weapons, Big Bang: The Mostly Illustrated RPG Guide to Modern Weapons covers the military rifles of Europe from 1870 to 1900 in volume 4.

Available on RPGnow, at a very inexpensive price of $3.50.

Yeah, it's a shameless plug, but most Victorian era stuff only focuses on the British Empire. Its always nice to have a little somethingfrom outside that focus.
