For the iPad, Battleheart. Cute little fantasy game that's not too deep, but works very nicely with the touchscreen. (Except when things get a little crowded)

In this case it's actually the GoW re-release for PS3 with hi-def upgrades. Still, it's my first time playing it.

In that case don't be like someone I work with and stop half way through two.

I never hesitate to take advantage of a good deal. Like some of the GOG.com sales, Steam specials, amazon.com discounts & bargain bin games at retail stores.

Stupid Steam sales get me all the time. How are you supposed to play all of the stuff?

I recently finished Mass Effect 2 (PS3)... best game I've played in several years. I had to loan it away to prevent myself from immediately starting a new game... and thus earn more heckling from my wife about spending all my time with my new 'space friends'.

I'm feel sorry for you, you really missed out by not playing ME1 first.

Right now I'm finishing up Batman: Arkham Asylum (PS3). It's very good, very Batman-esque. I'm been borrowing in for months... not sure why I took me so long to play it.

You didn't want to wait so long before you wouldbe able to play Arkham City?

I'm on the fence about Dragon Age 2. I'll play it some day... but I'm just not compelled to buy it at launch. ME2 spoiled me. The play mechanics are just far more refined than DA's.

Try out the demo, the did the same kind f refining for this they did for ME2 from ME1. I tried the PC and PS3 demos and while the PC version is mostly like the first game it is clearly different, but the PS3 version plays like an entirely different game. It's more of an action rpg than Dragon Age.

And I just got a new laptop which is (somewhat) gaming-capable: Dell XPS 15 w/Core i5 and a GeForce 420. Which means I'll probably be checking out some older PC titles and Civ 5. Any suggestions?

Mass Effect 1&2, yes I know you played two already, but you did it on the PS3 and you're really missing out if you don't play one and carry your save over. Keep an eye on Steam, particularly near the release of ME3, and you'll be able to pick them up stupid cheap ($5 cheap).

The Witcher is supposed to be fairly good. Other rpg's to try would be the Elder Scrolls games or the recent Fallouts (3, New Vegas).

Left for Dead and Left for Dead 2 (though soon you'll really only need two), the Half-Life series, Alien Swarm, Borderlands, Metro 2033, The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, Crysis, Bioshock, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Torchlight.

(other than: 'spend some time outside' and 'get a life' -- which I do/have, really!)

You managed to get married, so long as you stay that way you're beyond such criticism.

I think I've found a way to stay on the straight and narrow with gaming in general. If I start playing another game that's similar to one I'm already in the middle of that puts playing the first in jeopardy. So I'm staying away from other action/beat-em-up games right now. That means other games are fine like sports games, RPGs and rhythm games.

The only derailment I can think of that isn't not gaming due to burn out or whatever is something completely encompassing like Mass Effect 2. Dragon Age 2 could do that but who knows.

Ya can't! I've determined it's impossible if actual fun is to be had.
