Videogames that you'd like to see made into movies.

I dunno. The best thing about Half-Life is that you see the whole story only through Gordon's eyes. I don't think any movie could pull off that experience well, and I doubt any studio would try and use the game's approach. That said, I don't think a typical movie storytelling method would do Half-Life justice.

I think they could take the general idea of the game and make it into a pretty good movie- scientist working on extra dimensional portal research trying to stop an invasion before it gets full blown while a dark figure moves through the back ground doing for his own purposes. <shrug> story line might not appear as strong here, but hell they made Doom didn't they? (Which I have not seen, but not to much of a fan of Mr Johnson, which was the reason why I avoided it.)

Tron 2.0. Now that had a kicking premise. :) Ok... Ok... So I've been waiting for a sequel to Tron for 20 years or more.... Come on! :)

-Metal Gear Solid
-King of Fighters
-Castlevania ( I agree with that one)
-Rainbow Six (but rumor has it, they are indeed working on one...hope its true - but does that count as a video game transition or a novel one?)

... and i would love to see the following video games movies redone, resurrected, correctly:

-Street Fighter
-Resident Evil
-Mortal Kombat

...but the chances of that happening are very very slim. :\

Starcraft would be interesting, but since I'm a Warhammer 40,000 fan, I gotta do the thing where I go , "Yeah, but Starcraft just a rip off of Warhammer 40k." Rather see a really well done big budget Warhammer 40k movie. But that's got about as much chance of happening as me suddently giving birth to a two headed platinum goat that shoots ice beams from its eyes.

Killzone would be a cool choice too ( although that also has a somewhat Warhammer 40k feel -what with the future but with WWII style warfare -- but the world has its own look that isn't 40k like).

Ultimate choice for video game to big screen transition would be :

-Katamari Damarcy ;)

Nah. WWE Smackdown! 2: Know Your Role would be great tho I'm rather partial to games like Pong, Pitfall, River Raid, Centipede and other Atari classics.

On a slightly more serious note, what about Darkwatch or an actual Deadlands movie? Might have all sorts of Westerns icons like Clint Eastwood or even Bruce Campbell.

Samurai Shodown. Pick one, any one. I'd love to see Haohmaru vs Genjuro (or Ukyo for that matter) but I'm not 100% sure about Galford's ninja dog, Poppy.

Contra. Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, start. I really wanna see the "Tackleback" (6th stage I think) hopping around on the big screen trying to step on the hero(s).

Dragonquest. "Wilt thou takest me with you?" (No.) "But thou must!" (after saving the princess from the Green Dragon). Well the later ones might not've been so linear but with some awesome spells like Heal, Hurt, Healmore and Hurtmore, how can you go wrong?

River City Ransom. IIRC, stat boosts and new techniques were gained by reading newspapers, comic books, magazines, etc or eating food. All of which were bought by pummelling the bad guys til they exploded into coins.

Battletoads. Might bump TMNT out of the running for bad anthropomorph movie tho.

Ghosts n Goblins or Ghouls n Ghosts. D&D Tower of Doom, D&D Shadow over Mystara, Viewtiful Joe, Viewtiful Joe 2 or a variety of other Capcom games.

I forgot what game it was, but they need to do a movie on the video game where the "all your bases are now belong to us" translation.

In regards to Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, there's discussions about a limited theatrical release here in America. That's why the DVD release was delayed.

Wow, that would be cool. Any idea if that's going to happen and, if so, where?

[I just hope the English dub doesn't sound bad. Too many animes and whatnot have cool Japanese voices and HORRIBLE English voices]
