James Carter, head host of 'Inside Second,' the news and advice show dedicated to the players of the Second World VR game, is a well-known icon in modern society. Between billboard space, ad-spots, and the show itself, it's hard to be a part of popular culture and not have at least heard of him somehow.

Carter started off as the host of a one-hour segment on a generic gaming-news channel, called 'Mr. Wizard's advice hour,' where he took calls from people seeking advice on how to get ahead in the competitive world of gaming. While he was never the best gamer, James knew that the technical skills were only a small part of making it big in this life, and so while others spent their hours working out how to squeeze that extra 0.1% dodge chance out of an old build, he socialized, meeting the corporate bigwigs who ran the games themselves.

His big chance came when he was contacted by the corporation that created the new VR game that was sweeping the richest segment of the market. They explained that they were looking to start a new show covering news only about their game, 24-7. Carter jumped at the opportunity and took off from his old job, bringing along a few other forwards-thinking hosts who saw this as a place to strike it rich.

The new show took off in mere weeks, backed by the substantial marketing power of the company and fueled by the popularity of Carter's old show. Withing a month it was topping ratings charts, and now Carter lives the life of a celebrity. He knows his good luck can't last forever, but he's got enough stashed away to stay comfortable even if Second World folds, and so he's determined to enjoy life while it's good.

To keep his hand in and stay current, James plays regularly, and does a pretty good job of it. After all, he does do this sort of thing for a living.

Note to all players: Plaese use Invisible Castle to show the work for your Ability Scores, and link to it in your characters record.

Addendum: Bonuses accrued to leveling (stat mods) don't count against your point buy.

Further Addendum: Plaese list the sourcebook for each item in your inventory and the page number it is listed on. Just because I own the books doesn't mean I have an eidetic memory as where each item is. ;)

On Last Thing: Hit Points will be maximum possible for all Hit Dice at the start of the game (maximum for level and/or maximum racial hit dice).

Nac, I believe you forgot to add your second Occuption to your D20 Modern character. Also, you've got one too many feats. Human bonus feat doesn't apply to D20 modern. See the Behind The Scenes: Everybody's Human boxed text on page 18 of D20 Modern.

My concept is a disaffected youth, daughter of a rich family who plays a monk in the game.

I added the second occupation (Celebrity, which is where I get the crazy wealth :)), but I thought the progression didn't include the 'automatic' bonus feat from modern (since it was the same for the D&D and Modern characters). I'll cut a feat out, update HP and link invisible castle now.

[sblock=Background]My family is rich. I guess I've always known that to be true. But I've tried to live my life as if it weren't. My brother's different. He saw all that money as a means to something. He saw something he wanted to accomplish, and really good for him. Goals are good things, and I don't begrudge him his success. I love my brother.

But when my brother does something, he does it BIG. So when he went into politics, he did it with a splash. And when his personal campaign slogan all about shiny, happy, perky, productive families and other such drivel, he wasted no time in dragging out his very own shiny, happy family to every photo-op and press meet he could. And that included his brother.

I do love my brother, and I want him to succeed. So I smiled and waved, and smiled and waved. But they're watching me all the time, like they're waiting for me to slip up and be the one who proves he's wrong. So I smile and wave all the time. Even when I don't want to, especially when I don't want to. Sometimes I long for the ability to slip away for a bit, somewhere where I can be someone else, anyone but his brother.

It's not that I don't have a life of my own. Our parents always were big on us making something of our lives. He went into politics, I studied medicine. Nothing fancy like neurosurgery or such. Just a plain old family doctor. Parents bring their kids to me when they get measles. It may not be particularly exciting, but I enjoy my work. But really, my patients also expect me to smile for them. After all, they're the ones that are sick, not me. Sometimes I wish I could leave them behind and not worry about work for a while.

I used to box in college. My dad convinced me to take it up, he said it would build character. I was never going to acheive prestige as a world famous fighter, but I held my own in my youth. I still have a bronze medal or two lurking somewhere around here. I gave it up once my medical studies became more serious. Not enough time mostly, and as a doctor I'm not supposed to be the one inflicting injuries. But I remember the sense of power I used to have in the ring. Somethimes I wish I could go back to those days, having power and the ability to use it.

That's why I play the game. Caine isn't me, he's the guy I pretend to me when I want a break from being me.[/sblock][sblock=Description]Nearing thirty, James has certainly left his childhood behind, but has settled into adult hood nicely. A handsome enough man, unless one compares him to the golden looks of his more famous brother. Average height and build, not much to cause him to stand out in a crowd.

Mike "The Gamer" & Kef the Magnificant

So I was thinking that Mike is a professional gamer, Online Tournament champ, one of the best in the world and earned his cash that way. His first victories were in the RTS area, moving onto FPS games as he grew weary with that genre. He's since grew disenfranchise with the trigger happy FPS games and gotten into RPG's where his screen name is Phat Le3t Roxorzz. This new immersive game obviously interests him as it lets him act out his desires of magic & fantasy. He loves ninjas and tries desparately to be one, hence the katana proficiency, Hide/MS. I need to flesh him out a bit more, but honestly not much to tell, he lives in his parents basement at 28, skin like a ghost, he's balding and tries to cover it with a combover or by wearing a baseball cap. He's addicted to energy drinks, he drinks at least 2-3 each day or else Mike gets very irritable. Atypical hardcore gamer (modelled after a friend who's super into WoW).

Kef is very similar to Mike, except that he has the power of magic. ALthough because the spell-power go to Mike's head he can become arrogant and brash in the game world, reflected by his very low charisma.

Domain Wizard
A wizard who uses the arcane domain system (called a domain wizard) selects a specific arcane domain of spells, much like a cleric selects a pair of domains associated with his deity. A domain wizard cannot also be a specialist wizard; in exchange for the versatility given up by specializing in a domain instead of an entire school, the domain wizard casts her chosen spells with increased power.
Some of the arcane domains described below have the same name as a divine domain. Regardless of any apparent similarity, these domains have no connection to one another.
CLASS FEATURES
The domain wizard has all the standard wizard class features, except as noted below.
Arcane Domain
At 1st level, a domain wizard selects an arcane domain from those listed below. (At the game master's discretion, the player might create an alternatively themed domain instead.) Once selected, the domain may never be changed.
A domain wizard automatically adds each new domain spell to her list of known spells as soon as she becomes able to cast it. These spells do not count against her two new spells known per wizard level.
A domain wizard casts spells from her chosen domain (regardless of whether the spell was prepared as a domain spell or a normal spell) as a caster one level higher than her normal level. This bonus applies only to the spells listed for the domain, not all spells of the school or subtype whose name matches the domain name.
In some cases, an arcane domain includes spells not normally on the wizard's class spell list. These spells are treated as being on the character's class spell list (and thus she can use wands or arcane scrolls that hold those spells, or even prepare those spells in her normal wizard spell slots).
Spellcasting
A domain wizard prepares and casts spells like a normal wizard. However, a domain wizard gains one bonus spell per spell level, which must be filled with the spell from that level of the domain spell list (or with a lower-level domain spell that has been altered with a metamagic feat).

COLD DOMAIN
0 - ray of frost;
1st - chill touch;
2nd - chill metal (as 2nd-level druid spell);
3rd - sleet storm;
4th - wall of ice;
5th - cone of cold;
6th - freezing sphere;
7th - delayed blast frostball (as delayed blast fireball, but deals cold damage instead of fire damage);
8th - polar ray;
9th - comet swarm (as meteor swarm, but deals cold damage instead of fire damage).

Please remember that I am using the Defense Bonus variant from Unearthed Arcana. Please show it somewhere in your D&D Avatar sheet, preferably right next to AC. Multiclass character don't add from the two columns, instead they use the better adjustment of the two. This bonus does not stack with that gained from armor; if you use armor you lose this bonus.

Check out Hafrogman's character, he's got it right.
