Whenever these arise for NY, I know that:

http://www.thecompleatstrategist.com/

Gets a nod. Never been there, so ask others.

As far as DC, I wonder if there are any stores
in the town. More likely far out in the suburbs.

Maybe a DC-ite can correct me. :)

edit: Seems Strategist has a location in Falls Church,
Virginia that (according to Google) is around 20 miles
outside DC.

I can't tell you where the game stores are...

But if you like museums, you can't find 2 better cities to visit here.

NYC has the MOMA, and DC has the Smithsonian- the US's equivalent to the Louvre or the Hermitage, and that's just for starters.

In addition, Monty Python's Spamalot is on tour, and I KNOW its going to be in DC at some point. It may also be showing in NYC. If you enjoyed their Holy Grail you'd enjoy this- and no, its not a word-for-word recreation of the movie. It IS hilarious.

If you're coming to NYC, check out this thread:

One note: I no longer recommend seeing The Bodies exhibit (if it's even still up) - there is now some evidence that the bodies used were those of political prisoners executed in Communist China, and at the very least did not give their permission for their bodies to be put on display. I'm won't comment further because I don't want to cross the no politics/no religion line. Google it if you are interested.
