Vitamin Water Disclaimer

"Tasting" yellow reminds me of that abnormality called synesthesia. People who suffer from that have brain wiring crossed. When they hear sounds, they can taste specific flavors. There's a story about a guy who dated some girl, and every time her name was spoken, he tasted brocolli, and had to leave her.

Some synesthists see shapes or colors and associate them to sound. Certain foods taste like colors.

It's a very odd disorder.

It's my understanding that certain hallucinogens can cause this? Seeing sounds, hearing colors. Freaky, man. :uhoh:

There are several things - mostly beverages and popscicles - that taste a color to me... because, the lemonade VItamin Water doesn't *really* taste like lemonade, it just tastes like fake lemon - or, in my head, yellow.

The same holds for blue twin pops and sports drinks - they just taste blue.

*shrugs* maybe that makes no sense...

Any idea what's in it that causes that, CL?

No idea. All I know is that both my wife & I got migraines after trying some. I tried it 3 different times, and got a migraine about 15-20 minutes later each time. Laura stopped after the first one. Guess she's smarter than I am...

A former coworker of my wife had this with numbers. 4 was red, 7 was green, 8 was blue, etc. they apparently used to have fun with her on occasion, sometimes asking her to "add" colors or they would say "4 is yellow" and she would automatically answer with "No, it's red..." as she realized they were teasing her.

As a diabetic I had to try it. For a drink it is very low in sugar but has some fruit jiuce in it. When deciding which to get I saw the disclaimer and was sold. Still need to find the Orange one. Time to visit Bennington's hannafords.
