Vow of Poverty & Celestial Nature

XTCofDeath

First Post
A half-celestial character has the Vow of Poverty from "Book of Exalted Deeds".
The Vow of Poverty has a built in power, upon achieveing a certain level, of "mind shielding",
which grants immunity vs. any form of mind reading, discerning lies (celestial lies?), and
the question I pose to you all, discerning alignment of the character.

Now, my questions are twofold:

#1 - does this protecting mean that a spellcaster of higher level than the character can get through this?
#2 - does this protection nullify someone detecting him or her as a celestial?

please advise, thank you

You're not describing the Mind Shielding power properly. The character "becomes immune to detect thoughts [a specific spell], discern lies [another specific spell] and any attempt to discern his alignment".

That's what it does and that's all it does.

So:

#1: No.
#2: No.

XTCofDeath, welcome to EN World!

Take a step back and reread Iku Rex's post objectively. Change "properly" to "correctly" and maybe the tone is less condescending, but his post is nevertheless accurate and complete.
