So how would you do it?
Calling this "rules lawyering" isn't something I would do, personally. The rule is there and it is just how the system works. Its not perfect of course, so it can certainly be altered from table to table to fit your style/needs.
But if you use a square-base, wouldn't that just be the same as using the corners of the square of the grid?Something that would make more sense would be using the edges of your base to connect lines.
Doesn't that just give you one line? If so, it seems like that means everything would either be no cover or total cover? From the Center of the token.
Centre to any part of the target.Doesn't that just give you one line? If so, it seems like that means everything would either be no cover or total cover?
Or do you mean Center to the target's corners?
If @DND_Reborn is going to run Vecna, how about you make a character?Centre to any part of the target.
I'll run Vecna if if @MonsterEnvy doesn't want to, but either way @MonsterEnvy can bring a PC.If @DND_Reborn is going to run Vecna, how about you make a character?
Again, isn't that just one line then? Meaning no cover or total cover??Centre to any part of the target.
That's not particularly realistic though, because it doesn't reflect how creatures who are in high cover can still peer past that cover quite easily. Take this example:From the Center of the token.
Most bases are circular. But if you use a square-base, wouldn't that just be the same as using the corners of the square of the grid?
