VT Beta getting CB/AT importing this week

All you had to do to get into the beta was to ask once and voila. And the stripped-down functionality makes sense for integrating the tools. If you'd have all those drag'n'drop stuffies and editing functions in the monster builder going, it would be much much harder to integrate the different tools. I don't really get the piracy comment.

My guess is once they get the kinks worked out of the basic integration they'll start turning the other stuff back on.

Nothing like some random dude's random monster power added into the mix to make it super fun to bug fix... :P

Hello, my name is Zar. You may know me from such threads as "Where is my Freaking Mule?" and constantly complaining about the lack of Core Rules Support.

I am actually impressed with what they have done with the table so far. It seems easy to build maps. Alot of the functionality of Maptool is put into the VT already without having to write macros and such. There is still alot of work to be done but it's coming along nicely.

We still cannot use custom pictures and even pictures from the Character Builder will not import yet but I'm sure that's just a temporary problem.

From the post mudbunny quoted:

So only custom monsters can be imported in the first step? Has anyone looked at the XML for custom and non-custom monsters? I' hazard a guess that the custom ones contain much more information, which in turn can be used for the import.

Maybe - wishful thinking here - the VTT doesn't access the Compendium but is fed the XML.

Could that mean that the XML for monsters (and characters?) will be changed to contain more information in the future? That would make it easier to use the data in some 3rd party tool!

Here's hoping that I'm not reading the tea leaves...

Adventure tools has to be open to import a monster, so there could be something to what you said. I don't believe personally that they will allow third parties to access pretty much anything beyond exporting stuff (aka. iplay4e).
But i'm pretty sure that the data system for import will have been overhauled. I guess that is the main reason for online Adventure Tools.
