WAAAAY OT - The NFL

Eh, I think it's been okay this year. So far, there haven't been any major controversies that have shown up on ESPN or CNNSI that I've seen. Replay has been pretty good for the league with the following caveats:

1) It *does* slow down the pace of the game and can impact teams on hot drives

2) Some plays can't be reviewed -- those based on subjective judgement, like PI

3) When the whistle blows, nothing else counts, no replay no nothing

Officiating in the NFL hit a new low one or two years ago. There were just so many questionable calls -- do you remember when Phil Luckett screwed up the coin toss?

The officiating isn't so bad this year. 3 years ago it was the worst I'd ever seen. I'm still not a fan of Brady's fumble-ruled-pass incomplete in last year's AFC Championship game either. C'est la vie.

Still, this season has ruled. I love the NFL, the parity (barring the Bengals) is something all sports should emulate. No where can a fan find that his team is losing to spite itself, not that they don't have the talent (unless you're the Bengals). I'm a Chiefs fan, I considered this season a wash. Saint Vermeil has shown me the way.

Carnage, I was with right up until you admitted being a Chief's fan. :D

Officiating is a bitch. Every time I think it's bad in pro sprts I go watch my son's youth hockey league. Now there's some bad officiating!

Pfff! Don't let Kansas' complete lack of a defense color your opinion. ;) We'll get to the Superbowl... one day... hopefully in my lifetime... since I wasn't born yet to catch the last one.

Well I just finished watching the Bears vs Lions game and it was pretty bad.

Now the Bears lost it with their two fumbles by the A-Train but it doesnt help that the two play reviews requested by the Lions were ruled horribly. One could have gone either way but the other one about the Bears reception on the 2 yard line was impossible to see clearly. How can you see conclusive evidence when you straight out cannot see the play clearly. It is calls like that which remind me of the NBs officials of the early 90's where the home team favoritism was just insultingly obvious.

Hopefuly the BUCS will make it this year. That would rock. And the Rams, at work we are betting they will go 11-5 this year :p

As for the officials, it could be worse. There will always be mistakes.

*EDIT* Arghh Dang Bucs. They are going to give me a heartattack someday.

And the Rams are on the way to the 11-5 season.
