Waaah! We broke our GM!

Typical. Players need to police their own. There's an a** at every table and if players would finally stand up for their DM instead of treating their DM like SH** the world would be a better place :)

Happy thoughts! :)

I must say that I hate any kind of backstabbing in the party. The only competition between players I like is on the lines of Legolas and Gimly looking who can slaughter more orks. Even in evil parties, I like to have a party that sticks together. When I'm DM'ing, I usually make it clear to the players - ingame and out-of-game - that there is not much more than one warning for working against the party. Except the inevitable killing of the PC in question and the banning of the player in question.

Well, it's really because one total idiot who couldn't seperate players and their characters. If a player made an out-of-game joke (just a little bit of good-natured winding-up), he took it out on the character. If someone convinced the DM of a ruling that was not in favour of his character (but fair, especially to the party as a whole), his character started to assault the other's character (not always verbally). He also worked against the party, even when he had a lawful character (and I told him that the party isn't to be backstabbed). He just stopped showing up some day (after he complained about not enough sessions). Well, good riddance to him. Didn't really like him, anyway. I can't really stand people whose idea of an insult is something like "noob".

Any advice? Kind words? I don't mind dropping 14th level game, just mindless beatdown fests, but I've built up 25th level character over 2 years. And lots of alliances, in-character motives and goals, etc. Haven't been this attached to character in long time, but now I'm almost ready to cry.

Starting over before this one is done... ugh.
My advice: learn to se the word "the." It makes sentences much easier to read. :D

My more pertinent advice: Try to convince the GM to continue running the game and find a story reason for the rogue to leave. If that doesn't work, and nobody else can or will take up the GM's chair, then all that's left to do is start a new game. If your DM isn't enjoying the game, he's pretty likely to make it unenjoyable for the players as well. DMing is a lot of work, and few people like to work for fun.

All, thank you again. I don't think I would call anyone in our group an a**. Unless it's me ;) (old poker saying: look around the table, find the sucker. If you don't see the sucker, it's you ;) ). We just had a lot of things happen at the same time - GM burnout coupled with what should have been minor player squabble, coupled with cleric's player having bad hair day.

As it is, looks like we'll all be together next Friday, with me cobbling together campaign to run.

James, sorry :D. I'll try to do better. I'm just a very slow typist and a very impulsive person, so words scramble to the screen faster than I can keep up. On the plus side, I'm a good improvisational speaker :)
