Walking with Dinosaurs rocks!

My son is home sick today, so I asked him if he wanted to watch "real dinosaurs." He said yes, so I threw in the BBC documentary "Walking with Dinosaurs" on DVD. He loves it and I'm just as impressed with it now as I was when I saw it on PBS a few years ago.

The PBS version had Avery Brooks doing the voice-over. The original BBC version has Kenneth Branagh. Both have the same content. I highly recommend it to those who love dinosaurs and haven't see it. :D

Here's a cool link to the science used in the series: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dinosaurs/sci_focus/

Walking with Prehistoric Beasts is just as cool. I threw that big bird deal... can't remember its name now... into a D&D game and terrorized my players with the 'zombie dire chicken!"

Aside from the lousy story, the only think about Jurassic Park III I had issues with was stating that the Spinosaurus was a larger carnivore than T-Rex. The last I checked, the Spinosaurus was probably longer than T-Rex, but not larger (heavier or as powerful). I know that there's at least one theropod out there that was larger than T-Rex (name escapes me), but I don't believe it was Spinosaurus.

As for WwD, greater series. They creators had another dinosaur-focused show that featured an Allosaurus called "Al." Although I didn't see it in its entirety, I think it focused on the life of an Allosaurus...

I've seen both Walking with Prehistoric Beasts and Allosaurus: A Walking with Dinosaurs Special. I like Dinosaurs better but the other two were excellent.

I actually kind of liked Jurassic Park: III. I thought it was maybe the best of the series. Though nothing will top the sheer I'm-a-six-year-old-again delight of the T-Rex in San Diego at the end of II for me. That will forever be one of my greatest moments in a cinema. I totally didn't see it coming and was so delighted by it it almost made up for all the stupid, stupid crap Spielberg made me put up with in the first hour and a half.

Dinosaurs are good.

Agreed. I liked II and III if only for Dinosaur rampaging action.

Though IV is sounding more interesting, as the original cast(mostly, at least) is going to be back...
