Would you be interested in playing in an "old school" RC D&D game?

Thought: With the right group, could Synnibar be fun? FATAL? Perhaps...if the group included professional strippers or something.

Synnibar: Definitely

FATAL: Sorry to say, yes, I'm sure a fun game could be run using FATAL, but I wouldn't do it only because it would be supporting said game.

I ran a fun game using K.A.B.A.L. of all things... a game system where you need to determine the square root of your attack characteristic, create a ratio of it vs the opponent's, and then determine percentile chances to hit from said ratio.

LOL why oh why would you do that to yourself?

I would most definitely play a RC game or 1e game any time. I would be less excited about a 2e game, but would still do it given the right group.

Agreed, Chris... but with some systems, the right people isn't enough, you also have to work hard.

In this case, it meant running a game where the mechanics intruded the least possible. And it worked. Another great example was the DeadEarth convention games I ran. I ran this particular adventure a dozen times, and it was ALWAYS good. But good lord, that game system was so horrid that -no other- deadEarth game ever worked for any of the groups I ran for.

look to the Gamers seeking Gamers forum. Currently refereeing an OD&D(1974) campaign.

took me 7 years of posting on various message boards and running ads until i finally found enough players.

Out of curiosity, is that a tabletop, face-to-face game, or online?

Honestly?

To prove that you can run a fun game using just about any system, if you work hard enough at it.
Dang. I'd rather play a system that I don't have to work so hard at to have fun...

I agree.

But someone claimed once that you could never run a fun game with system X. So I proved him wrong. Actually... that player still didn't have fun, but that was because he was the one claiming you couldn't make it fun. Everyone else had a blast.

I haven't run that system again, mind you. It's way too much work.
