D&D 5E Wanting more content doesn't always equate to wanting tons of splat options so please stop.

Do those of you who DM not check your players PC's before the game starts? Do you not discuss what isn't allowed before you commit to starting the game?

I do to an extent, but it ain't easy. I run semester long games at the college. I've got to introduce the world, help 4-6 people build characters, talk to each one about what they want and go over what they've done. And we have 1 maybe occasionally 2 books.

And at least half my players have either never played or haven't played 5th.

Oh, and I have 4 hours at best, less sometimes to get it all done.

Absolutely. I play a lot of AL and typically have two PCs per season (1 for Hard Cover and 1 for tourney/module play).
Ah, that explains it. Means you won't be able to use the third-party material much too, then. I sympathize.

I'm looking for Volo's to bring a few more awesome options that cry out to me, though.
Just a few more weeks! I hope for your sake that it has what you want.

I think this thread (complete with the usual, "Oh look, it's Corpsetaker's monthly/weekly doom statement comment") is a good start:*

You know, the whole- In you experience, nobody likes 5e. You can't trust any actual figures. You don't like evidence. You think that the game is rigged, and people aren't really playing it, etc.

Again, your opinions are valid, and your threads have some interesting conversations. But you do have, well, kind of a well-earned reputation. :)

*And that's from March of this year. Just think of all the complaints that were lost due to the great enworld outage!

You still haven't delivered on what I asked you to provide. EPIC FAIL on your part.

There's an epic fail here, but I don't think it's with lowkey. Look, anyone who has been here for the past 2 years knows what kind of posts/threads you make. The overwhelming majority have been nothing more than taking shots at 5e and WotC/DEV team while ignoring any counter arguments to your opinions*. You can argue that this reputation doesn't exist, but to be frank, it's almost like you're a Bagdad Bob caricature at this point by doing so.

* I have said it before and I say it again. For the life of me I have no idea why someone would spend so much time with a game and hanging around the game's discussion forums if they hate it so much. I didn't like 4e when it came out and I didn't spend one minute in 4e forums complaining about it. I stuck with the game I liked and left the fans of 4e to their own discussions. Maybe I'm odd, who knows..

It isn't healthy for the game to have newness be a goal for rules content. Whether it's a book per month, or a book every two years, eventually the game becomes bloated and new materials become harmful to the game.

But, I will agree that the current library of content has room for expansion in regard to player options, DM sourcebooks, and setting material.

I want that library to be well planned. And, of course, I expect them to release each volume at a rate to maximize excitement and sales. Which I think the current schedule does pretty well. Eventually, that library will be complete, and adding any more should be done with hesitation and careful deliberation.

Which is why the adventures are so important to the long-term success of the game. They can come out regularly and in perpetuity in a way that other content can't.

It is no secret, an utility-focused dumb -if not also feebleminded- but very human-looking sorcerer(ess) who fights with spears has a talking raven familiar and goes everywhere on a floating disk dragged by an unseen servant.
A dumb sorcerer who fights with spears is very easy to create in 5E. The other stuff you want are all spells that exist in the PHB, they just work differently than in 3E.

No matter how much splat 5E gets I doubt they are going to duplicate spells from the PHB in slightly different ways, so your "concept" will probably never be part of the game unless you can concvince the DM to homebrew. It's simply way to specific otherwise.

The other stuff is in spells that are barred to sorcerers, and in exchange there is tons of other stuff that drastically alter a sorcerer's appearance -with all the claws, wings, scales, random color changes, hair falling and flowerbeards-.

MoonSong, I admit you've piqued my curiosity. Where did you come up with such a unique and specific character concept? It seems very detailed and spelled out. What was your inspiration?
