D&D 5E Wanting more content doesn't always equate to wanting tons of splat options so please stop.

I don't think he's wrong in viewing the WotC material as generally acceptable by default. My group tends to do that, too. I understand tha mindset entirely, and I do think that there is a level of validity to that. However, it's the dismissal of 3rd party material and fan created content that's i think is wrong, and the way those items are compared to the official ones. He is saying that he does not judge material based on its merit, but instead on its brand.

That's not accurate. I do judge based on the merit of the material. That's why I didn't buy all WotC 3e releases, and did buy the rare third party release. I also had the time to go dig through the third party dross to find the gems. I no longer have the time that I had, nor are most of the third party releases in stores for me to leaf through even if I did. As a result, I have to wait for WotC to give me a general release book before I get any.

@Morrus I really didn't mean to imply that there were third party professionals and apologize for that implication.

I admit I may be confusing you with others, but aren't you one of the posters around here who frequently admonishes people if they do not include PDFs and online product in the "math of popularity"? But here you are holding 3PP to having to put physical books on shelves before you acknowledge them? What about all the 3PP PDF products? I know you are aware of them. Because people have pointed you to them all over these threads.

No. I have stated I won't buy PDFs or print-outs. I like physical books. Now, I fully support PDF support for those who want it, but PDFs aren't for me.

Apparently it isn't. This entire thread is predicated on you asking people to stop posting in a certain manner.

Not the same thing. I was asking people to stop assuming when we ask for more content that we want mountains of splat. A BIG difference between asking someone to posting certain topics.

No True Scotsman has been a weak logical fallacy for a many, many years.

Well like I said before. I must be saying something right because I've been racking up on XP on these boards. I'm too old to be playing ":):):) for tat" with some of you. There is a real sense of immaturity with a few people on these boards and I don't have to put up with it. I'm just fine with my reputation and it seems there are a lot of like minded people on these boards and that's fine with me.

Oh what, you thought your words hurt me feelings or something? Trying to "get one over on me" kind of thing?

Sad.

No, maybe I thought that perhaps you'd understand why some of us think of you the way we do by pointing out a yet another post where you move the goalposts and reject information that attempts to correct a view you have with facts (in this case, showing that WotC does, indeed, pimp DM's Guild products that are "actual game mechanical options").

And, no, I don't care about impacting your feelers, I'm just sick of you posting and arguing in bad faith. And no amount of XP you claim changes the fact that you are posting in bad faith.

You just have to accept you are a stranger in a strange land, if you have misgivings about 5E, or prefer a different approach. I felt the same way when I talked about preferences with 4E when Pathfinder was first released when discussing it on the Paizo forum. I guess you develop a thick skin or move on. From a 5E perspective, the method they are approaching add content to the game appears to be written in stone, whether that is based on budget or some other magical formula may never be known.

Why are you trying to make my view into some kind of minority? I'm not a stranger in a strange land. I am a gamer who prefers more variant content and I am no where near alone in that want. Show me some kind of proof that shows me in that minority.
