War of the Burning Sky, an E.N. Publishing Campaign Saga

I hate to be a negative nelly, but given how slowly Necromancer stuff comes out (for good reasons, don't get me wrong), I'm not going to start blocking out time for this any time soon.

I know what you're saying. Isn't there an Orcus adventure talked about in Tomb of Abysthor? How many years ago was that adventure published? And Bard's Gate looked like vapourware for a long time. We can only wait and see I guess.

Edit: We've already got a full suite of writers, so please don't contact us and ask to write. *grin*

Kamikaze Midget, Clueless, and others who might be interested, email me at RangerWickett@hotmail.com with a sample of your writing (preferably an adventure, but that's not necessary). Of the story arc, only four episodes have their authors set in stone. Also, Ari Marmell (Mouseferatu) wants to write one if his schedule is free, so he has first dibs, but yeah, I'd love to hear from people.

As for supplemental rules, the only rules the adventure require are all in the SRD, and nearly all of it is core. We do plan to support psionics, but as an option, not as a requirement. Anything else we use will be included in the adventures themselves.

I might be AWOL the next few days, as I'm feeling sick, so please continue the rampant speculation in my absence.

Thank GOD *someone* is opting to add psionics into their games. Now, if WotC would get off their butts and port over their Vancian magic system to the better "point" system, the world would be a better place.

Really looking forward to releasing this! I've also read the synopsis, and it looks utterly fantastic. :)

Good pick on "Campaign Saga" it has a good ring to it.

This looks great. Keep us updated on release dates, length, levels, and prices.

Hm. I like the idea of doing a little bit of writing for it, but the odds of actually writing an adventure are slim to none (you try being a full-time student!). If you wanna saddle me up with a monster concept or two (preferably low-level), I wouldn't mind tackling that. Is there something smaller-sized you could send my way? If not, I'd totally understand.

Anyways, I think a war-themed "Campaign Saga" is a great idea; you're probably pre-empting Paizo on this one. If I had to make a comment, I'd suggest adding a knightly order of some sort - for some reasons, Knights aren't all that prevalent in 3e, and that's a shame. Some sort of branch of knights (Knights Templar spring to mind) would be a perfect faction in a 3.5e campaign based around war.

I'm sorry, but I really have to say something. I just got a thread closed a couple of days ago because I was suspected of advertising for Goodman games and their limited supply of DCC 35 maps.

This is blatant self promoting advertising.

Personally, I could care less, because I think it (this site) is all about making sure we are aware of good sales, cool products, etc....

But you mods need to set the standard and follow it. So decide what that standard is and then enforce it. Irregardless of their affiliation with ENWorld, or not.

Consider me a buyer.
I love war and political themes (that's why I'm playing BIRTHRIGHT 10 years!).

I offer my help as the concept artist, and The Forge Studios graphic artists too.

In this thread in the Publishers and Press Releases forum we have announced the titles of the adventures in the campaign saga. I'll repost the announcement here for those who don't normally swing by that forum.

War of the Burning Sky adventure titles

Earlier this month, E.N. Publishing announced the War of the Burning Sky campaign saga, a 12-adventure series to be released over the course of 2007. Today we bring you the list of adventure titles for the series, and the levels the adventures are designed for.

  • The Scouring of Gate Pass.
    Level 1-2.
  • The Indomitable Fire Forest of Innenotdar.
    Level 3-4.
  • Shelter From the Storm.
    Level 5.
  • The Mad King’s Banquet.
    Level 6.
  • Mission to the Monastery of Two Winds.
    Level 7-8.
  • Tears of the Burning Sky.
    Level 9-10.
  • The Trial of Echoed Souls.
    Level 11-12.

  • The Beating of the Aquiline Heart.
    Level 17+.

The War of the Burning Sky Campaign Saga takes a party of characters from 1st to 20th level, and lets the players see the mighty and terrible face of war in a world of magic. They will decide who rules in the aftermath - perhaps an ally, perhaps themselves, perhaps even anarchy. They can usher the world into a golden age, or let it be scorched under a rain of fire.

Keep your eye out for further announcements about the War of the Burning Sky in the coming months.
