Creating a Warblade

Warblade Features

All Warblades share the following Features.

Battle Cunning
In combat it is almost impossible to escape from a Warblade who has chosen you as his foe. Every time you attack an enemy, whether attack hits or misses, you can choose to mark that target. The mark lasts until the end of your next turn. While a target is marked, it takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls for any attack that doesn't include you as a target. A creature can be subject to only one mark at a time. A new mark supersedes a mark that was already in place.
In addition, whenever a marked enemy provokes a Opportunity Attack and you hit, you may shift 1 square.

Weapon Aptitude
As a Warblade you spend a great deal of time on training in specific weapons so that when the time for battle comes, you may strike down your foe in a quick but brutal fashion. At 1st level select a Weapon Group such as Heavy Blades or Axes. Your receive a +1 bonus to attack rolls with weapons in your chosen group.

Sublime Focus
As Warblade draw there abilities from Sublime Power most tend to focus on a specific style or school of maneuvers. There Sublime Focus though not limiting in there power choice provides bonuses here and there for the school they decide to focus in. Choose one of the follow Sublime Focuses: Iron Heart, Stone Dragon or Diamond Mind. A Warblades Sublime Focus determines the following things.
At-Will Maneuver: One of your At-Will Maneuvers is automatically chosen depending on your sublime focus.
Sublime Ardor: Each Sublime focus includes a Sublime Ardor, through your love of battle you find yourself fighting harder and harder with every foe who falls to your sublime arts and so receive a bonus because of this.

Diamond Mind Focus

A Warblade who focuses on the school of the Diamond Mind finds speeds and strength in the mind instead of the body. As a student of the Diamond Mind discipline seeks to hone his perceptions and disciplines his thoughts so that he can act in slivers of time so narrow that other cannot even perceive them. A Corollary of this speed of thought and action is the concept of the mind as the battleground. An enemy defeated in his mind must inevitably be defeated in the realm of physical as well. A Warblade who focuses on diamond Mind should have a high dexterity and Intelligence score as-well as a above average strength score to make the most of his powers.
Sapphire Blade: You gain the Sapphire Blade at-will power.
Diamond Ardor: Once an encounter you may receive a +2 bonus to attack rolls against a target marked by your Battle Cunning until the end of your next turn.

Iron Heart Focus
Warblades who focus on the Iron Heart school try and master the art of sword play. Through unending practice and study, the followers of Iron Heart achieve superhuman skill with there weapons. Their maneuvers are demonstrations of uncanny skill drawing on Sublime Power so they can accomplish weaving patterns of steel that dizzy, confuse and ultimately kill their foe. A Warblade who focuses on Iron Heart should have a high strength and Dexterity to accompany a above average constitution score to make the most of their powers.
Steel Precision: You gain the Steel Precision At-will Power.
Iron Ardor: Once an encounter as a free action you gain a +1 to AC and a +1 to attack rolls against a target marked by your Battle Cunning until the end of your next turn.

Stone Dragon Focus

Warblade who focus on the Stone Dragon school are embodiments of the never falling mountains. Holding strength and endurance matched by no others. The methodical and relentless application of force allows the Stone Dragons followers to kill almost any foe. Putting on a heavy defense to call upon a reserve of super human strength when ever needed. Stone Dragon Maneuvers are made of defensive and offensive powers with many allowing the Warblade to last longer the any other warrior in battle. A Warblade who focuses on the Stone Dragon Should Have a very high constitution score as well as a high strength score to make the most of his powers.
Defensive Strike: You gain the Defensive Strike At-Will Power.
Stone Ardor: Once an encounter as a free action you may gain a +2 bonus to AC against a target marked by your Battle Cunning until the end of your next turn.

Meta-comment: why would Warblade be a Defender? White Raven Warblades were always leaders; Iron Heart or Diamond Mind Warblades were more like Strikers, let alone Tiger Claw (which may very well have been the template for the current 4e TWF Ranger).

Cheers, -- N

White Raven will appear in my crusader conversion.

Tiger Claw will be in the Sword Sage.

Shall I not include Diamond Mind then?

Does it matter. Im converting material from the book of nine swords as a separate thing.

Well, a lot of Bo9S maneuvers showed up in 4e as fighter, ranger, rogue, paladin, and warlord powers, with names intact. I guess if you want to convert the Bo9S classes wholesale you have to convert the warblade, but it seems to me that it would be simpler to look for things that existing classes don't cover well and just convert those.
