Warforge in LFR

Melt them all down for slag and send them through a portal back to Eberron as ingots. Sorry I understood the need to put out a supplement so that those that were converting their Eberron campaigns to 4th edition. But they could have done it as a supplement and not a Dragon article. Then we wouldnt have them in the Realms. Just my 2 cents worth

The declared goal of WotC is to sell more campaign guides make anything core. That's one of the reasons the campaign "specific" books no longer have a special campaign look but are in the standard D&D layout

So even if the warforged would have only been released in the Eberron Campaign Guide, the Eberron Campaign Guide would be a valid source for LFR. So that would have only make them appear later, but they would make it into FR nonetheless.

They can restrict access to items or limit access to items in books as they are released. They already do that with the AV, FRPG and certain parts of Dragon. There is nothing that says they will make the Eberron campaign book open access in LFR. And there is nothing that says they wont either. Once the books are released we will wait to see what the CCG say about such books

As shown above, sentient golems are hardly new to FR. If you're not playing RPGA, it's your decision, you can exclude them. If you are playing/running LFR, though, there are numerous already-canon ways to fit a warforged PC in.

The fact that warforged and artificers are already open access and that the designers said in several blogs that it's one of their intentions to tear down the borders between the campaign settings it can be safely assumed that most of the Eberron stuff will be open access with merely a few restrictions (I hope the leave dragonmarks out)

Races and classes don't break a campaign but add flavor. I don't know how many times in my 20+ years of playing or running that someone wanted to play something from a different campaign in a home game. When you're playing with friends it gets a little hard to constantly deny someone the opportunity to play something they want. A good DM tends to figure out how to make it work so despite the original limitations you found various races from different worlds crossing over. WotC just brought down the wall that everyone was climbing over to do it.

When the EPG comes out next year I expect any race and classes in it to be fully playable in any campaign. However I do expect there to be limiations on what items can be used in LFR as we've seen already with the Adventurer's Vault. The real breakdown in gaming history has always been when you let any item into a game and WotC is already putting a stop to that by restricting or barring items deemed too powerful or at least overbearing right now at low level per the LFR guidelines.

They do damage the campaign for me. This homogenised approach that WotC are putting out there at the moment means that no world is special - for me this ends up meaning all worlds are bland.

I like Eberron. I like Forgotten Realms. But I want them to be different to each other, I don't want them to feel like they are exactly the same beast.

This is a major negative to LFR for me. By there very nature RPGA campaigns have less ability to roleplay in than any home campaign I've ever played in, but this makes it worse.

Duncan

I do have a FR fanatic in our LFR playgroup who isn't all that excited about the Warforge being playable for the exact reason Duncan mentioned. He loves that Warfoge are specific to Eberron and wants to keep them there. I personally like the abilitly to include all these races in the LFR games I just don't want it to drag the games down.

Then why call it Living Forgotten Realms at all? If they are going to include everything under the sun and just find a way to justify it later. They could have just as easily called it Living World and used everything in it as a living Campaign.
