Warhammer 3E - Adventures?

From the preview it seems like adventures will be tougher to create to accomodate the new mechanics. The new edition seems to dictate a new style of play for WFRP that I'm not crazy about. I own all of the WFRP stuff from the 1st two editions, but I'm not sold on this one yet. Adventure support will be an important consideration for me in the decision on whether to purchase or not.

After seeing pretty horrible comments in another thread some time ago ...

Will this still be an RPG ? Will it have support ? Any comments made by the publisher on this/related

PS : I have not seen the previews. Please do not turn this in a flame war.

Yes, it's still an RPG, but with heavy board gamey mechanisms. Not really unexpected from FFG, or from a game that wasn't originally going to be WHFRP3e.

Define support. It's not going to have the same level of support as D&D, but not many games do. My impression from attending the various seminars at Gencon is that FFG is stretched sort of thin in the RPG department. I wouldn't expect frequent releases but that can be a drawback or a boon depending on your point of view.

I don't get the impression that it's boardgamey at all. It seems dicey and card-gamey however.

If combats are going to be "vague" positioning without an actual tactical map, and we're using cards and massive numbers of dice to "describe the action" then it's not even close to a boardgame.

It's "tabletop" dice and card playing. A boardgame would imply that there is a "board."

D&D isn't a boardgame. There's no "board" for it..however there aren't massive numbers of dice..but there are cards. WFRP3 evidently somehow is crammed between D&D4 and WFRP2.

Please note I'm not knocking it for it, but there are boardgame like boards, inmho.

The party sheet is a 'boardlet' imho, I think it even has places for tokens. The stance meter is very much boardgame like, again imho.

I don't really have a horse in this race. I'm NOT bashing it, not one little bit.

Is that a fact?

Given the timelines involved and the comments from the devs (and drastically different system) it's fact enough for me.

There's a strong enough inductive argument that I'm comfortable with stating it the way I did. The only way you're going to get real confirmation one way or another would be if FFG piped up but I'd take any denial on their part with a huge grain of salt without corroborating evidence.

I'm actually giving FFG the benefit of the doubt, the alternative is that they worked on this game for significantly less than a year.

There are 'boards'. There are also plenty of board game style mechanisms. If someone dumped these components in front of you your first thought would be that they were from a board game. In fact that's EXACTLY what we (and others we happened to overhear) thought at Gencon.. that they were coming out with an expansion to Descent but with a Warhammer theme.

Whether this is good or bad remains to be seen.

Ok, nobody asked the question, so here goes.

For those of us who get attached to our characters, and thus should not play Warhammer, or as a friend says, "get everybody else to do your dirty work for you", is this new system going to be more to our liking?
