Warlock.....seen in action for the 1st time

Depending on the exact configuration of the eldritch blast in question, a (minor) globe of invulnerability might help too.

Seriously, what could be more awesome than a flaming igloo?

Sure it's awesome. But when the night comes and your shelter has melted, you think that boring igloo the neighbours have (you know, the one that protects them from freezing right now) would bee better :heh:

Well, yours would still be cooler. ;)

Your assuming that we are making out igloo the flaming one.... :p

that was the most amazing hijack ive ever seen.

tell ya the truth, im not a fan of new base classes. Especially ones that seem rather cheap, as the warlocks appear to be, with (from whats been said) chains and scares and stilll spells and touch attacks galore (i guess they cast as a sorceror?) But ive never seen one in action, and prolly never will

Well, most of the Complete base classes are quite nice, actually.

The warlock doesn't cast as a sorcerer. He doesn't cast at all. He invokes. He has a very small number of invokations, which he than casts at will. His most basic invokation is the eldritch blast, which is basically a ray that deals 1d6 damage, +1d6 every two levels (max 9d6). The invokations are either ones who add effects to the blast (like cold damage and you have to save against being slow for a round, or negative levels on top of the blast), ones who change the shape of the blast (into weapon strike, cone, chain-lightning like effect), and general ones (emulating existing spells, either 1:1 or with some twist). The invokations are divided into least, lesser, greater and dark, (that's like their spell level).
