Warlock's Curse multipliers

No, I would not.

Just because items exist that benefit your character (whatever class), this does not mean that your character is somehow useless if they do not have them.
Well, that wasn't exactly what I was asking about.

I want to know whether you warlock players feel the Rod of Corruption to be an essential part of your character; if the item really is "that good".

I did not ask if you feel "useless" without it. But perhaps you feel significantly less capable? That doesn't imply "complete lack of use" which is what useless means.

Of course, you aren't useless. But if we reduce the question to a binary answer then it becomes meaningless. If we're going to arrive at any form of conclusion, let's stay out of the absolutes. :)

My other group played with a warlock with the rod. Now in a new game, after one game session, the new warlock definately wants teh rod, even with the massive nerf I gave to it.

Thanks, StalkerO.

Let's (also) discuss the feat, Twofold Curse (PHB 206).

Compared to cursing a minion and then getting that curse transferred to half the room (at least half a dozen enemies on average, I would expect, including several enemies who would otherwise be hard to reach for the Warlock) it seems rather silly to have this as a Paragon feat.

Again, perhaps the best remedy is to provide more options for cursing (if the warlock is sub-par without such options), perhaps its best to nerf the rod (if the warlock is not meant to be that good in spreading his curse)...

My apologies. I did not realize how mild your definition of "gimped" is.

While RoC can help in certain situations, it is not the ultimate in equipment. I freely admit that it is important for a warlock to spread its curse to as many targets as possible. I just don't see that as the target result, merely a preliminary step. Outside of the plane of infinite minion scenarios people immediately think of with RoC, there are probably better things to spend money on.

As to Twofold Curse (and the action point recharge feats for Ranger and Rogue), it seems to be an aftermarket correction to a class that you must spend feats for (of course, you seem to be saying similar about RoC).
