Warlock's Hideous Blow provokes AoO?

Before I decide whether to make a melee-warlock or not, I need to be sure whether using Hideous Blow (to add Eldritch Blast onto a melee attack) provokes an attack of opportunity. From reading the class description and the erratta, I don't see why it wouldn't - except that then the ability would be really, really, awful.

I'm assuming that the answer will be the same for Eldritch Glaive (out of Dragon Magic) but for that one I also need to know what the duration is. I would think that by default it would just be the one round, but then if it provokes to use it I'm back to getting clobbered with AoO's every round I fight. :(

Luckily I haven't actually made the character yet, so there is still time to switch classes if a melee warlock provokes AoO's every round they use Hideous Blow or Eldritch Glaive.

Keep your concentration skill maxed out. Spell-like abilities can be activated defensively just like a spell.
Oh hey, hadn't thought of that. And it looks like they are just 1st and 2nd level equivalents so that should not be too hard.

And speaking of Eldritch Glaive, does one apply their STR bonus to damage? Can it be used to Power Attack?

For Hideous Blow - the attack is part of the spell-like ability, so it will generate an AoO (unless defensively, but that will sort of negate a lot of its benefits). It can't be "held" since the attack is part of the SLA.

The Eldritch Glaive on the other hand is a bit different.

When first activated (it has a duration of 1 round I think and allows a full-attack, unlike the Hideous Blow) - it is also a ranged attack and does not threaten creatures close. So using it when threatened by a creature w/o reach is not very smart in the first place since you can't attack them anyway.
