Warlocks with wands, staffs and daggers?

One thing that occurred to me is that all pictures of warlocks so far have them carrying wands or staffs or daggers. It makes me wonder if those will do anything special for them, other than using a dagger to stab things with. Somehow I don't think they do the same things for warlocks as wands and staffs do for wizards, and in the end it could just be an art thing for dramatic effect.

From the Design & Development article on magic items:

Here’s what my 11th-level gnome warlock, Dessin, is wearing right now:

Implement: +3 rod of dark reward

So it looks like warlocks will have implements too, but perhaps different ones than wizards. (And they'll probably interact with warlock powers/class features in a different way.)

Well I know some of the Warlock powers can be delivered through a weapon such as a dagger beyond that I dunno how they are putting in other kinds of magic items for the warlock.

Perhaps implements are tied to the power source rather than the class? So all arcanists might use rods, staves, and wands, all divine characters would go for holy symbols and whatever else clerics use, and so on.

Regards.

It makes sense to me: martial=weapon, divine=holy symbol, arcane=implement.

After all, whether rogue, ranger, fighter, paladin or warlord you are going to be wanting +x weapons. I can easily see two (or more) arcane classes benefiting from +x implements.

I'm certain every class will have a +X something-or-other they want to have in hand at all times. Making all classes equally item-dependent (though generally less dependent overall) seems to have been a design goal.

And, for those that want it, easily house ruled out by just adding some modifiers by level- touch wood
