May I please have some comments to optimize this character? Originally I went with 16,16 stats but dropped to 16,14,14,13,10,8 in order to hopefully qualify for better feats later on. What are you thoughts?
The party that I support consists of a Charisma Halfling Paladin, Dex 20 Human Ranger Archer, Fey Pact Human Warlock, Human Wizard, and my Dragonborn Warlord. At this point I think I'm shooting for Combat Veteran as my paragon path but I've considered other options including cross class options. At first level I have the multiclass Dark Warlock Pact Initiate feat but I don't think I'll keep that after 2nd or 3rd level.

Lawful Good Dragonborn
Str 18, Con 13, Dex 14, Int 8, Wis 10, Cha 16
Init +5, Speed 5, AC 17, Fort 15, Ref 13, Will 14
HP 25, Bloodied 12, 8 healing surges @ 7 HP each
Trained in Athletics, Diplomacy, Endurance, Intimidate, and Streetwise
Characters of War background from Dragon 366 - "Officer Who Came Out of Retirement"
Equip: Longsword, Chainmail, Light shield
Powers:
Bastion of Defense (3[W] and temp HP for allies)
Guarding Attack (2[W] and +4 AC for on ally)
Spiteful Glamor (1d12 dmg against unwounded foe - Dark Pact Warlock)
Dragon Breath (1d6 dmg in close blast 3)
Inspiring Word (+1d6 HP to ally who can spend a healing surge)
Wolf Pack Tactics (1[W] and let 1 ally shift 1 square)
Furious Smash (4 dmg and let 1 ally get +3 to hit and dmg on next attack)
I'm looking at optimizing this character for the long term more than just optimizing for 1st level play. I went with 14 Dex instead of 14 Con so that by 15th level I will have 15 Dex without hurting my progression to 22 Str and 20 Cha. I'll also qualify to take Shield Proficiency Heavy, Shield Specialization, Armor Proficiency Scale, and Armor Specialization Scale boosting my AC +4, Ref +2, and Speed +1. However it hurts my Dragonborn powers such as Dragonbreath and the healing surge bonus.
Having a higher dex also allows me to take the Blade Opportunist - Heavy Blade Opportunist chain. Again, I'm one of only two melee fighters in my party because we have a Wizard, Archer Ranger, and Fey Pact Warlock outside of the Paladin. So I think I'll have chances to use opportunity attacks.
Or is it common to avoid over-focus on just your top two stats while leveling?
