Warlord equipment advice

Thanks for the advice, everyone. After weighing many options, I think I'll go with the Greatspear after all, though I may not go with Hungry Spear as the enchantment. Honestly, I think Communal would benefit my party more, and I could switch to Overreaching at mid-epic. While I would love the flexibility a Heavy Thrown weapon would afford me, I'm realizing that my party would benefit most from me using a high-proficiency reach weapon, which leaves Whip and Greatspear, and between those choices, I prefer the latter. I may look into getting a javelin enchanted with Grasping though, for those fights where dragging someone to my side just can't wait.

Edit: changed the title of the thread to better reflect the category of advice I'm requesting.

So, now that I've settled on the Greatspear, I'm curious about other good items out there to put on my wish/buy list. I just got a set of Stormscale Magic Armor +4, so that could use a better enchantment. I also currently have a Healer's Brooch +3 and a Girdle of the Dragon, level 16. Other than that and the weapon I'll be swapping out (Wounding Longsword +2), I don't have any magic equipment. As mentioned above, I'll probably grab a relatively cheap javelin (likely Grasping +2).

So, what other sorts of advice can this fine community give this aspiring Inspiring Warlord? When I reached Paragon, I started swapping to more offensive powers. My Paragon Path is the Battlelord of Kord. As mentioned above, I'm focusing on granting basic attacks and combat advantage (which our two Rogues love, especially the one who isn't being stubborn and actually took Melee Training). I'll also pick up Impetuous Charger some time soon, so I'd love to beef up my charges in some way that will benefit the team. Is there anything that pushes, knocks prone, etc. on a charge? Any other suggestions?

Hmm... my DM nixed the Grasping power at a range. Looks like Dynamic will be my next javelin upgrade. At least then I have a utility item; need a hammer? Got one! Knife? Here you go! Etc...

Hmm... my DM nixed the Grasping power at a range. .

That's dumb... the only spears that have reach are polearms which already have access to Grasping, which means that 'Spear' becomes pointless on such an item.

Grasping weapons are fully intended to work with spears that are thrown, otherwise the power does -nothing- for spears what-so-ever.

That's an ignorant ruling, imho.

While I understand DMs who are willing to put their foot down, I dislike those that have Fear and Loathing towards magic items that might be -useful as intended-.

Pffft.

Dude, chill out. I don't agree with the ruling either, but he's still a good friend. If he comes around and changes his mind later, fine. In the meantime, I need to figure out a viable (i.e., cheap) alternative. Hopefully a Dynamic weapon will fulfill that role.

I disagree. For a non-reach, non-throwing spear, then yes, the "pull target to an adjacent square" part is useless, but the ability to decide that the target is also grabbed, after the hit roll has been made, is still very useful.

The problem is that there are no spears that have reach but are not polearms, which makes you wonder what the point is for making spears a viable option given the power is a power that works best at a range, the pulling being an important aspect of the power.

I should say it is useless, but it's an unnecessary nerf on a weapon type that is well designed to be thrown.
