Warlord - Maximize Healing

First Post
I am playing a 2nd level human inspiring Warlord (Str: 16, chr: 16). There is no cleric in the party and for historical reasons there probably won't be for a long while. I am the busy-body of the group (though I am am definitely a 4th edition novice) and love the fact that, as a warlord, I can feel like less of a jerk because I am talking as much as usual but helping other people people feel like rock stars. Win/win.

I have Inspiring Word. I multi-classed cleric for the 1/day addition (kinda lame, but what can you do?). I am probably taking "Aid the Injured" as my utility though I think "Knight's Move" would be more fun in the short term, at least.

Is there anything else I can do to expand the healing in my party?

We have a Human Warlock, an Eladrin Fighter, a Human Wizard and a Dragonborn Paladin. The Paladin does what he can but for character reasons it is more important that he hits than heals.

I will probably take ritual casting next time I get a feat to make potions.

On that Dragonborn paladin, the way you said he needs to hit - can be taken to imply the player doesn't know that Lay on Hands is a minor action and he can "hit" and "heal" at the same time someone next to him.

Potions would certainly help your party especially if various characters had quick draw so they could "draw" and drink a potion as a minor action.

I didn't appreciate that that LoH was a minor action. Thanks for the tip.

We are coming out of a very, very long 3e campaign and are trying to avoid some of the roles and expectations from that game so there are some artificial limitations. But not on your advice. Thanks.

Edit: to be more specific, the paladin will not be multiclassing into Cleric or maxing his wisom. No on else will multiclass into cleric either.

My current main 4e game includes a Cleric and a Paladin (me, who's multi-d into warlord). Between the two of us, there's far more than enough healing for most situations. I wouldn't worry about it too much, it sounds like you're doing fine.

Don't forget the Healing Skill ... activating a Second Wind for someone that cannot afford to loose a round or is uncouncious can be a GREAT help (and it is quite easy to do).

Could one or more of the others take Student of Battle (Warlord multi feat)? Inspired by your leadership, yada yada yada.

Distributing the healing load across the group seems tactically advantageous.

Aid the Injured really isn't that great, but there are other healing abilities in your future that are very good, most of them add your CHA, so don't neglect it. Be particularly keeing to scoop up the few that don't require healing surges.

As an inspiring Warlord, you already give your party non-surge healing whenever they spend action points, so be sure they don't hoard them. It's not a lot, but it doesn't use up a surge, so in a sense it's 'free.' You've already maximized your conventional healing by multiclassing to cleric. You should be in pretty good shape.

Remember, Second Wind is a real option for your party members. It doesn't just heal, it also acts as total defense (+2 all defenses) for the round. Your paladin's Lay on Hands is also good backup for when you're tapped out or someone is out of surges, it's only a minor action, and a feat can tack on a CHA bonus.

For a Warlord, sinking a 13 into wisdom in order to multiclass into cleric is already a pretty big sacrifice. It seems you've done everything you can. Between the Paladin and yourself, you should be able to provide enough healing for the party, and Warlocks, depending on the build, can have their own supply of temporary hitpoints which can surve as pseudo self-healing.
