"Was that you or me, Montana?"

You should see the show.* Some of those sentences are extremely coherent!

I've watched half of the season 1 DVD's, and after your 15th "rooster lollipop" from Al Swearengen, ;) it starts to lose its meaning... Great series in the story of it, though.

The man has a way with words. :)

The dialouge does have a kind of poetry to it. And I laughed out loud so many times, I couldn't believe how funny the show it. And for the first 6 episodes it seems Seth was at a funeral at somepoint.

Glad you enjoyed it, Poet. As for Swearengen and his 'rooster lollipops', I couldn't help but laugh each time he said it. I don't think I've ever heard any word spoken with such intense feeling each and every single time.

I'd love to run him as a DnD villian, yet sadly half of my players would pass out from shock.

Ever since watching the series, I'm jonesing to run a Wild or Weird West campaign, and I've been thinking Swearingen would make an awesome addition to the campaign world.

Except I wouldn't do him justice. :(

I just can't scheme like he can.

Still, there are some great moments and characters that would make great additions to a Wild or Weird West campaign. If I ever run that campaign, this series is going to be required watching for the players as preparation.

What a show!

I really like the Doctor (actor played wormtongue in lotr) and Calamity Jane (in season 1...season 2 she becomes a kind of parody of herself, imho). Season 2, the Sol Star/Trixie storyline is the one to watch, though there's a lot going on with all the characters...

And I agree about the poetry. I'm waiting for someone to analyze the dialogue to see if it's actually written in some kind of verse.... though from what I've heard, the script isn't exactly precise, much like NYPD Blue (tada...another Milch brainchild).

Great show. Glad to see it enjoyed by others.

I generally don't like westerns but Deadwood is so well written as well as performed, etc. I thought it was a brilliant series and can't wait for the 2nd season boxed set to reach Oz.

It's got Brad Dourif in it?
He plays Doc Cochran, and he's outstanding. Very well written role, and he plays a very sympathetic character. It's a great examination of "frontier medicine" and all the difficulties, limitations, and burgeoning developments of same.

Really, the whole cast is outstanding, from what I've seen. The series is so richly conceived in just about every way, from the cinematography to the music to the characters to the writing to the actors.

Heartily recommended!

Yet Mr. Wu says it even better. :)
