It makes me wonder if Mr Glass/SJ wasn't meant to play to our pre-assumptions about the man playing the character. A villian should be something to be feared, but other than the sick motivations and the lengths at which Mr Glass went about searching for his nemesis, he is not a character to evoke fear or even healthy respect. Having one of the big action guys play the effete Mr Glass - in fact having Mr Bad*** himself, plays to the audiances knowledge (meta-movie) of the man and his potential for cool brutal violence.
