Watchmen....again

Not surprised, given the success of Dead Man's Chest I imagine they would go forward with any movie involving pirates, even if it only part of a comic book within the main story.

Actually, given the necessity of cutting a 12-issue comic book miniseries down to (what everyone's guessing will be) a 3-hour-tops movie, I'd be very surprised if the pirate comic remained in the movie at all. That seems to me to be one of the first things that a moviemaker would cut as being "nonessential."

I'm still not investing a whole lot of hope that this movie will get made, or that if it does get made, that it'll be done right. But we'll see.

Right. We'll probably just see the cover to the comic as it's getting read by the kid and perhaps three or so lines of dialogue between the kid and the vendor, just enough to care at least somewhat about them for when the big to do happens.

I see about all of two scenes total taking place at the street corner.

I'm of the camp that thinks this would work better as an HBO mini-series. Both to fit in enough of the material and to alleviate any fears about the ending getting changed.

I'm not so sure. They managed to sandwich in an animated sequence into Kill Bill Part I and I assume they'll do something similar in regards to the pirate comic. I for one found it to be an important analogy to the remainder of the story and would certainly like to see it remain. How they will do it in a maximum of three hours? Not really sure, I'd prefer the miniseries idea instead. The key to the whole thing is casting the right actor for Rorshock and having his narration, that will either make or break the film.
